Actually is was a little underwhelming ... from that height you couldn't really get the sense of how high the water as. The only part that was obvious was the fact that the ponds at the east end of Prince's island were under water. Since it was raining when I was there I passed ... glad too since I may have been one of the last crossings of the Centre St underpass!

Police are basically saying "downtown is closed" tomorrow. "Access will be extremely difficult/limited", that sort of thing. Gotta imagine the LRT won't be running.

Yay, free flex day for everyone!

I believe they've opened it up all the way, to prevent that. Although I haven't seen official confirmation of this.

Well here is the ultimate test of raising our buildings to accommodate this 100 year flood plain as per the bylaws. If the design was well such that the main floor slab of many buildings are elevated by a few steps, the occupancy portions should be spared while the parkades may inundate with sump pumps cutting out.

All of these are amazing pictures and videos. Especially that house in Bragg Creek.
I also wonder what Banff is like and if Lake Louise has also been affected?
And then the indian reservations.
That other footage I saw on the news of the spillways of the Old Man River Dam... Damn that's a lot of water..

Edmonton is sending down 100 police officers to assist Calgary. And Red deer has just upgraded to a state of emergency. As for Edmonton its just a high strem flow advisory.

honestly the images shown don't really show any real damage in Calgary, High River on the other hand is a disaster, but in Calgary right now it just looks like the Fraser in metro-Vancouver when it floods, just flooding local stream side parks and golf courses / farms. I mean that in a good way as well, in that hopefully for Calgary they are overblowing things a little.
