Vancouver - Keep Vancouver Wet

Following a great trip to Portland, I decided to pop in to a city I have lived in to check up on my pops, put a few back with some friends, meet Gabby and go car free.

Cheers

-------------------------------

I had to hop into the ocean, even if only a few inches.

A man and his city.

A pint, bite and walk around southeast false creek.

Relaxed

Very

I liked this one

Got landscaping?

We have you

Pretty

Second home

Courtyard white noise is important

UBC south developments, incredible how much has been built up

Oh there you are

Simple, effective,

Maybe a wee bit too planned no?

I like wood soffits

Good scale

Back to the beach

Prius! (looking at you Oni)

Where is everyone?

Our ride

After a nice brunch at Yew and 1st, thank you Abigale, I walked to Cambie.

Not sure how this works.

Classic Van

Always liked this building... something so early 80s van about it.

Great little infill.

Car free day on Main between Broadway and 33.

Decent

I wanted to bring back some ideas from this park for a new one we are working on downtown Edmonton. Ended up meeting one of the landscape architects who worked on it... well done!

That you are Dad, Happy Father's Day

Indeed... just before coming to Main's car free day it poured unlike I have seen in a long long time.

Cheers Van, miss you.

Just love 747-400s

Looks like the rain let up for a bit . We could definitely use a "car free day" on Jasper, Whyte, or 124th.

Nice! The West Harbour (Västra Hamnen) area here in Malmö reminds of Vancouver, at least I think so when seeing these pics.

Vancouver is astoundingly beautiful. I'd love to call it my home someday.

Another great photo tour, I envy your traveling! Vancouver looks so shiny and new, I haven't visited since the mid 90s, need to take a trip. Thanks for sharing these!

You would not envy my bank account

Vancouver is truly a beautiful and diverse city and if you have not been since the mid-90s...brace yourself.

Lovin that 3 storey building. It's ugly enough it's cute again.

Nice.
That area of UBC is crazy. I was there a couple of years ago when a lot of this was still under construction. They did a good job.

Nice shots and variety Coldrsx! I really like some of those post-downpour ones - there's something quite appealing about the quality of the lighting. That shot Beedox singled out above was one of my favourites.

A good job in many ways, but it felt so contrived and planned... almost Chinese.

Vancouver is looking as good as ever. It's a shame the Olympic Village area is so quiet.

Granted it was 1130am on a weekday with rain around.

A car-free day. How cool is that! Gotta get up there as it's been way too long.

I feel like it must have had more to do with the weather and perhaps the fact that everybody was drawn to the nearby Car-Free Day, or had Father's Day brunch plans or something. I work nearby and am often in the area around lunchtime or for after-work drinks and on a sunny afternoon at least it is usually quite bustling - patios filled with people, constant stream of walkers and cyclists along the seawall, and often events happening in the square.

Here's a crappy pic from my phone I took along the shoreline in the Olympic Village from 8:00pm, Thursday, June 5th. Lots of people… they're all drinking or smoking weed but they're there.

(BTW, no intention of highjacking your photo thread Cold… don't let the quality photo skills fool you.)
