The three new towers built on that block each have 7 storeys of above-ground parking. Ninety percent of the block is now one giant above-ground parkade. Any hope of a vibrant streetscape along that block has already been completely destroyed.

It's amusing that the city would choose now to be concerned about above-ground parking on this block.

I think they are concerned now because of the catastrophe they allowed to happen on that block already. It would be great to have some retail and bars at street level on that side of the block, so that it could at least somewhat connect and get people walking past the parkade, extend the urbanity of dt.

columbia street at that point has never been pleasant from a pedestrian perspective - the road is way too busy - the other side/street is nice and it ha stownhomes at street level not parking
