One more added to Hamilton. A guy was shot and there are a lot of unanswered questions. No suspects either.

Three people were murdered in a house yesterday in the Aylmer district of Gatineau. Three murders is often our city's entire murder total for the year.

Victims are an older couple, and the daughter of the woman in the couple, who was around 18. The daughter had a young boy just over a year old. The baby was unharmed and found nearby with the suspect, who is his father and the ex-boyfriend of the 18-year-old victim.

I was actually walking right past the place at the time. It definately sounded like a pretty heated situation. Lets just say I started walking faster once I heard the pops.

Montreal is at 10 after a body was found in a suitcase in Cote-Des-Neiges. It could be related to the foot sent to the conservative party in Ottawa.

I believe this is Toronto's 21st homicide of the year. What makes it so scary is that the gunman was bold (and stupid) enough to attack his target in a crowded public place. It has also shaken many peoples' belief that the downtown is immune to this sort of ruffianism. However, the National Post has done a homicide infographic (2006-2011 patterns), and despite what many people say, downtown Toronto seems to have just as many (if not more) problems as Scarborough, a region traditionally mocked for being "the hood". As expected, with the exception of the lovely Jane & Finch, North York was probably the safest area in the city:

London also had a bad time last week. Some poor guy was stabbed near Adelaide St. N. and Hamilton Road, later succumbing to his injuries in hospital. A man with gunshot wounds was also found near Boullee and Victoria Streets with no vital signs. Someone was charged in the stabbing, no charges yet in the gunshot case though. Thunder Bay is now at one after one inmate killed another at our jail. I didn't know that kind of homicide counted for the city in general. Both the victim and the accused were 19 years old.

It does? That's not really fair. It distorts the statistics for the city and implies that the general risk to the public is higher than it actually is. Any prison incidents ought to be isolated.

It is just the local media stating that, so it might not be counted officially. I guess with all the flooding news, they need to call it murder to stand out and get people's attention.

So we're at 10. Pretty low number and we're half way to the new year. Looks like we could end up with our lowest total yet. Lowest so far was in 2008 with 29.

All 3 of these guys, the shooter and the 2 victims, were from the same freaken gang. Morons. If you want to settle a beef, don't do it in the food court of the busiest mall in the country's largest city.
They should bring back legal duelling.

Some good news though, the 13 year old boy who was hit in the head with a stray bullet was released from hospital after "complicated surgery".
