Arrow Auburn | The Grand Tour (120 pics added on pg. 5!!!)

I've been shooting photos of Auburn for many years and have posted several photo tours in this forum in the past (most recently about two years ago). Some of you may have been around to see some of these photos before, but there are some from last fall that I'm sharing for the first time. But whether you are seeing them for the first time or not, I hope you enjoy the tour!

.

Downtown Auburn

.

Toomer's Corner, the main intersection in Auburn

.

Toomer's Drug Store, for which the intersection is named, has been an Auburn landmark since 1896.

.

Inside Toomer's Drug Store where the "world's best lemonade" is served.

.

Auburn University

.

In the fall of 2007, construction of Phase I of the Shelby Center for Engineering Technology was about to begin:

.

And two years later (last fall), construction was nearing completion:

.

This view of Jordan-Hare Stadium shows the West Upper Deck which was completed in 1980:

.

And this view shows the East Upper Deck, completed in 1987 (when I was a sophomore at Auburn):

.

Plainsman Park

.

Views of campus from Jordan-Hare Stadium:

.

The new Auburn Student Center, slated to open this fall:

.

Me and my boys at a game last fall:

.

My son Austin with some cheerleaders:

.

Aerial views of Tiger Walk (when the football team walks from their dormitory to the stadium):

.

Rolling Toomer's Corner, Auburn's most well-known tradition - these photos were taken after Auburn's victory over Alabama in the 2005 Iron Bowl:

Here are older photos (from 2003 and earlier) shot with inferior cameras. This group includes views of Auburn during the spring as well as scenes from the southern half of campus which I haven't photographed during recent visits. Now that I have a much better camera, I need to return during the spring and also spend more time photographing the areas of campus I don't visit regularly on gamedays. Enjoy!

I have no problem that there are some very beautiful parts of Auburn's campus. I LOVE Samford Hall, it has to be one of the most beautiful academic buildings in the state. It and Clark Hall at Alabama are my two favorite academic related structures.

I'm amazed at how similar Auburn's Shelby Center and Alabama's Shelby Hall look.

I agree. I thought the shot at of Shelby Hall at Alabama looks a lot like Shelby Biomedical Research Building at UAB.

Plainsman Park is a very nice looking baseball stadium, I haven't seen photos of it before. Next can we get a grand tour of the twin city Opelika?

Yes, Samford Hall is awesome! Because it is situated at one of the highest elevations on campus, it can be seen from many vantage points.

Thanks hallman! I feel the same way. My wife and I were thinking about moving to Auburn about 10 years ago. Perhaps we can retire there.

Here are a few photos of Opelika I shot in 2003. I need to shoot some more pics there now that I have a better camera:

Thanks OCA REP! Yes, things definitely have changed over the years, but some of the most drastic changes took places during the late 80's when you and I were students there (library expansion, hotel built, demolition of Magnolia Hall to make way for the Lowder Business Building, etc.).

WAR EAGLE!!!

Great pictures, Randy. The new basketball facility should be really nice too... and maybe one day Tuscaloosa can get a new baseball stadium.

BTW, I knew one person in all of those pictures...

and yes, it was one of the two cheerleaders.

Thanks! The new arena is one of the projects I'll discuss in the Auburn Development thread I'm putting together.
