I find it amusing that the Calgary users are complaining that Stantec is too boxy and plain when arguably Calgary's most beautiful tower fits that exact description.

Few people would say Brookfield is our most beautiful tower

I like the (almost) 1960s simplicity of the Stantec tower. I hope the next tall tower the city sees built, however, is opposite. Perhaps the tower that will replace the BMO building will have a bolder design.

They said the BMO will be something great.

This or the Baccarat site. Katz says....this will be a signature tower.

Time will tell.

I love simple ... so I love Brookfield. Guess I'm in the few.
I'm also loving "not-simple", as in Telus Sky.

Anyway, I think Stantec will look good, especially with the fins accentuating the verticality. I didn't like the very first render of Stantec that was released with the gold glass and awkward transition from office to residential.

That fits your profile. Likewise, it fit the profile of the two that find Stantec boring. FYI, they find Brookfield and generally every other "boxy" design boring. Maybe you should stop looking at people's locations. You're coming across as some loony, biased, conspiracy homer.

BP is beautiful.

Stantec will be tall, large and much more 'complete' when the next 36 floors are added. It is a bit of a stump at the moment.

Are you referring to Brookfield? If so I kind of agree. The difference though would be the tapered rounded corners, the crown and the overall quality of the glass. Very disappointed with the lack of crown lighting so far though.

The Bow isn't boxy or boring. Telus Sky might be our nicest tower in the future and it's not boxy or boring either. Honorable mention goes to 707-5th, that one is one of our nicest and doesn't have a single right angle, smooth and curved the whole way up.

Brookfield is pretty much a glass box and is boring af, but that's not our nicest in my mind.

Nice try though lol.

Yeah some buildings definitely try too hard and the designers put a bunch of crap on it for the sake of it. The Vetro and Sasso towers in Calgary are a good example of this.

Actually no. Cowboy and indian stuff is always popular here unfortunately. This is the entrance to the Stampede though so it actually makes sense. You wanna see a giant teepee in the middle of nowhere check out Medicine Hat:

I love how your pictures dissect the skyline. Really cool shot. Funny seeing a shadow covering Suncor tower now.
