My wife recalled this one, now I'll have to find it.

from http://www.themareks.com/xf/1999.shtml - The Goldberg Variation
"Mulder meets Scully on a downtown street in Chicago, coming up out of the pavement in a freight elevator from a basement that extends under the sidewalk."

The extremely lucky man gets thrown off a building and goes through an open sidewalk elevator hole.

^^^ Thanks for all of the sweet pictures Harryc! I am going to have a camera with me at all times now and will begin documenting interesting things I see in the city from now on!

^^^ I don't think so, most can only be accessed by the building that lies next to them. Like I said, I'm going to try and get someone to let me down inside of one.
