The plan generally seems to have been to extend it parallel to the Metrolink ROW along San Fernando Road, where there is room for two additional tracks. That space might be taken up (under certain conditions) by CAHSR, but it might not. One potential alternative was to serve downtown Glendale up Brand.

Things change though, and I'm excited to see what results from this study. These communities really need to be connected to the Metro system at rapid transit frequencies, and this seems like a reasonable way to do it to me.

Exclamation

The ship for this has likely sailed but it would nice if they could get MetroLink to the Westside somehow.

I think its near safe to say that measure M will pass..... I have seen numerous commercials and advertisements on TV about it promising more rail and fixing potholes and extending freeways and etc. But I haven't seen not one ad against it yet. Hopefully it stays that way.

But one interesting thing about the measure M ads.... They put emphasis on more Light Rail, they don't even mention Heavy rail or helping the purple line get to the beach. So does this Measure M focus mostly on Light Rail ?

I noticed WIFI is coming to the red line by the end of the year.

Also, any chance the red line will see new trains soon? The current metrorail cars are very outdated.

Disagree, but I hope you're right. 66.7% is an enormously high hurdle. 2 more weeks, get out and vote everyone.

The initial contract will be for 64 cars with options for an additional 218 cars which would total 282 cars being delivered between FY2019 and FY2030. The schedule for delivery is broken down in the staff report.

The initial contract for 64 cars is 34 cars to operate segment 1 of the purple line extension and the replacement of the original 30 A650 (501-530)

There are four options on the order:
Option 1 - 112 cars for expanded base operation
Option 2 - 20 cars for purple line extension segment 2
Option 3 - 12 cars for purple line extension segment 3
Option 4 - 74 cars to replace remaining A650's (531-604)

Metro has decided that instead of doing a mid-life rehab on the existing vehicles, it will just go in and replace specific components that need to be replaced so that they remain in good condition and will replace them when they are due for retirement in 2022 for 501-530 and 2027 for 531-604.

I suspect the average voter thinks "light rail" is everything smaller than Metrolink.

Whoops, it looks like I've been posting the results of Measure A. I knew it was too good to be true.
