Some renderings of the hotel planned for 1148 South Peters that I had not yet seen. I believe this project received final approval back in May.

It does. That might be my favorite work that eskew has done so far. Well done!

Happy to see those vacant lots on esplanade disappear! Hopefully they have a good design to put in their place.. And to see the new building on Canal go up will be fantastic! I hope we'll finally see some tall new construction around your house , Tennis, in the near future! And Jonathan Tate did that tiny house next to the proposed warehouse single family renovation in the Irish Channel, curious to see what he'll design. He does great work!

A 330 unit multifamily residential building with resident amenities, and a small retail space on the ground level. Shares a site with open parking garage under separate permit # 15-38676-NEWC (Mathes Brierre Architects). Note that site address is intended to change to 1551 Canal Street.
Looks like the city won, and we'll be getting a little more retail on Canal Street. It will be good having more life on the street.

I followed this issue pretty closely and the compromise seemed reasonable I guess. A little retail now and when market conditions improve more will be provided. Not sure how that could even be enforced But overall its a big improvement over whats there now.
