I guess this is Montreal's tallest U/C at the moment (hopefully not for long)

Le Hotel St-Martin

A catastrophe of unprecedented dimensions. The architects ought to be probed and exiled. that is all.

That's new construction? I've seen pictures before but I genuinely figured it was a conversion of a 50s or 60s building...

^ Haha my thoughts exactly!

It seems to meet the street well though, I dont find the bottom two floors nearly as offensive as the rest of the building.

Yeah, that. And just look at the what surrounds it:

Le Hotel St-Martin is taking up about as much of that lot as Ben's did. If there is anywhere in Montreal that is downtown, this is it.

This office building could have taken up the whole lot (if there was demand for office space in Montreal, and if the old hag that owned Ben's in its last years would have sold to these developers instead of the developers that built the ugly hotel):

There are definitely other towers u/c in Coquitlam or at least nearing construction. Grand Central (3 towers) Metro1 (3 towers) off the top of my head.

The Carlyle has been downsized to around 18 stories, and has pretty much wrapped up construction from the looks of it.

Thanks. The Carlyle's status suddenly makes sense.

Must be a pretty deep pit that will be dug to accommodate all the parking for a tower of this density. Interesting that they are proceeding on spec as well.

^it is a GIANT lot... but yes, i expect a deep hole. Amazing in times like this they are going on pure spec, but they did that with their current project, 'Quest' and as many of us have mentioned, this might be one of the only new buildings on the market in 2.5yrs. Views will be amazing, great location, and decent redesign.

win win

Hey Bedford, they have just announced plans for an 11 storey 36m Hilton Hotel as part of the new convention centre in downtown Fredericton. It isn't "under construction" yet, but I think the approval process will be nothing more than a rubber stamp and this should get under way this summer.
