Urban Canyon Photos

There is something awesome about urban canyons that gives them a paradoxical sense of both closeness and liberation. Because they are so close in one dimension, the openness of the other two (forward/backward and upward) is made even more stunning. Please post photos of urban canyons here that you think best demonstrates this principle, or if you like, that you simply find beautiful in itself. They don't have to be your photos, provided you abide by forum standards of attribution. Nor do they have to necessarily be modern - medieval or older parts of cities may have the same effect.

Great shots! Not many Euro-canyons, but here's a shot from Canary Wharf:

Here as an artistic, upside-down reimagination of the urban-canyon idea (if fog were a place):

Robert, great pictures. I also really like your website. It's so intriguing to look at pictures of the 70s, and seeing how much times have changed.

Hydrogen, beautiful pictures as well. Chicago is a masterpiece of a city.

Here's an urban canyon in Ithaca (yes, it is in the city limits).

OK, here's a couple pics of Ithaca's mini-canyons:

Beautiful. The fog in that first Boston shot is fantastic.
