Seems as though you've had the travel bug in you lately Chris. I love the lighting in the 2nd pic. Thanks for the tour.

Great scenes of a city I want to visit. Looks like you were there in autumn. That is a wild looking Marriott Hotel. Don't think I have noticed it in a Montreal thread before.

Yes this past October, sorry it taken so long to put up the photos. I would had more of Montreal had it not rain as much while we were visiting. I still have photos from my trip to the northeast during the same period of New York, Boston, and Philly. I hope to get them posted soon.

Nice shots Chris! I love the autumn colors revealed through the buildings.

Expat- The Marriott hotel is an old Canadian Pacific (CP Hotel) built in 1967 and known as the "Cheese Grater".

Well, architecture being also an artistic expression, appreciation of any building is very personnal. I, on the contrary always loved the building.

The architect, Roger d'Astous spent one year at Taliesin Fellowship with Frank Lloyd Wright from august 1952 to july 1953.

This hotel is with the Montréal Summer Olympic Village the only highrises he built. He also built houses, churches and one Montréal's subway station.

There is a bit of ambiguity about the attribution of design to D''astous in the Olympic Village case. Was he perhaps the interior design architect or a senior detailer? The village buildings per se are attributed to Roger Taillibert who designed the stadium and the velodrome complex also. He had designed similar buildings on the côte d'azur in France and applied his design to Montreal.

Well, I was only quoting the canadianaencyclopedia but I went to various websites afterward -including Taillibert's own- and he doesn't take credit for the Olympik village at all !!

On the other hand, various sources are confirming Luc Durand as the architect of the Olympik Village complex.

Okay during my visit to Toronto (I ran the GoodLife Fitness Marathon) so many people said if I loved downtown Toronto, I must see Montreal - now I see why! Thanks for posting these photos; Montreal is definitely next on my list! Is there any one area where you can get really good cityscape/skyline shots of downtown Montreal?

My favourite angle is from Jacques Cartier Bridge. You have a nice view of Old Montreal with downtown skyscraper in the background.

You have a large sidewalk so you have enough space to work with your tripod.

This view is from jacques cartier bridge
