This shot reminds me of plateau Mont royal. Edmonton is starting to emerge as the Montreal of the prairies, not just in terms of skyline. A folk music festival instead of a jazz festival. Ok, I know there's still a ways to go before it matures, but this is the vibe I get from these photos, having never been to Edmonton myself.

I haven't heard of any plans to demolish the Gardiner west of Jarvis. The city just built a new off ramp and park under it.

The Hub will be pretty close at the western edge but the height will definitely add to the tunnel effect. I assume that's the mega-project you were referencing.

Also, 370 Queens Quay, while only ~30 floors, will be closer to Gardiner (~5 meters) than most other buildings on Queens Quay (if approved).
