Is there anywhere to get updated information on 700 k street? They have been working on it a while, is there any new info?

Did anyone see the Ziggurat building lit up last night for the Riverboats vs Giants game? It was stunning. I'll try and capture a pic next time.

New to Sacramento and joined this site after retiring and moving from San Francisco. I want to get into photography of existing architecture and new construction. I'm willing to travel and follow up on your suggestions and requests. All you have to do is help me figure out how to post pics from my laptop. -Steve

Sacramento has never had much of a skyline and likely never will. Yet there's still a number of projects underway that will help make the central city a more vibrant and attractive place to live, work and play. I really think Golden 1 Center will be a once in a lifetime catalyst for Sacramento.

I'll be in Sacramento for a wedding in October and I can't wait to see the finished G1C.

Wow, the new arena looks absolutely beautiful and seems to integrate well at street-level. How tall is that under construction tower going to be? Is that hotel? Thanks so much for the photos!

It's a great addition to Sacramento's central core. Hopefully it will result in some additional high density infill development for Sacramento,

I can think of a number of empty lots in very close proximity.

Time will tell.

The tower will top out at only 260' I think, but will include retail/entertainment, office, a Kimpton hotel, and condos.

Thanks. That recently posted aerial of the arena with the sun setting is fantastic. So happy for Sacramento that some positive momentum is being achieved downtown. So much untapped potential in that city...

The crown lights on the Matsui Court building were on tonight, probably to showcase our city during the March Madness basketball games at Golden1. Nice anchor on the north edge to the skyline as seen driving in from Davis. Wish is were lit daily.

The crown lights on the Matsui Courthouse (at 5th & I) are on, and probably will be tomorrow too. They have not been on since Major League Soccer visited Sac last year, and who knows when for the future. Bonus news: if you can get through the high security in the lobby, take the elevators up to the 15th floor for a sweeping south-facing view.

Wait, what? The Cal EPA building at 10th & I has crown lights too? I have never noticed them on in the 14 months that I have lived here, 4 blocks down on I.

So, Matsui Courthouse, Cal EPA ... AND Ziggurat across the river all lit at the same time. Thank you Higher Spirit for this ultra rare sight. Especially impress coming in to Downtown from West Sac or the Railyards. I won't be able to look at our nighttime skyline again without knowing what is missing.

Taken from County Road 102 between Davis and Woodland

In case you missed it.

Major fire damages midtown Sacramento car repair

An auto repair shop caught fire Sunday morning at the edge of downtown Sacramento, sending dark smoke billowing into the sky, attracting throngs of onlookers and forcing cancellation of Easter brunch at a popular restaurant.

The fire at the Japanese Imports Service & Repair, at the northwest corner of 17th and J streets, left much of the repair shop a charred hulk. Much of the roof was completely destroyed, and firefighters were quick to hose down vehicles that had been stored over the weekend for repair.
