^scary, but the Hiroshima photo (1st one) might even be slightly more visually appealing than the parking lot grids.

I know I take heat for being 'pro-car' or whatever, but surface lots piss me off. Imagine what a few (like 4) parking garages with businesses on the 1st floor would do? You would get most of those lots back instantly.

Look at the garage on the far right side in the middle. That is 7 levels...or 6/7 of those lots freed.

Surface lots in a urban setting = horrific waste of space

I would bet a lot of those lots are the result of someone buying it for investment and wanting to make a few bucks while they sit on it (I'd so the same).

Oh...looking at Google Maps, the situation is not much better now :-(
