SAN FRANCISCO | 447 Battery St. | 200 FT | 19 FL

Quote:
As designed by Heller Manus Architects for the Montgomery Realty Group, the proposed 19-story building includes a total of 182 hotel rooms over a 4,700 square foot restaurant and an underground garage for 24 cars.

And eight (8) condos would be spread across the top five floors of the tapered tower, with a single 4,300-square-foot penthouse and two private terraces across the top two.

People's opinions on setbacks aside, this is a really great piece of architecture in a strangely sleepy part of the city. I am amazed that 200' is even proposed here. I approve.

^^I think not much gets proposed or built here because so much of what is there is protected under some sort of "historical" designation and apparently so is the building this would replace which is why I dubious it will happen.

I like the current building especially at street level. It would be much more interesting to see a modern structure spawn out of the historical facade above.

Interesting building - and I like setbacks. Heck, San Francisco's whole landscape is setbacks.

I think the current building offers more to the location, though.

I actually kind of really like this proposed version. That top, five stories / setback is a bit awkward, but the bulk of this design is nice and tasteful, IMO.

Hope they can get through their own line of BS and make it happen.

Since they've embroiled themselves in a lawsuit to block a very similar (height/bulkwise anyway) neighbor, it doesn't seem like they'd do that if they planned to move forward soon themselves.
