I'm not incredibly dissapointed...but I swear they should make unrealistic renders a crime. This is clearly a case of baiting. That first render versus this bares a pretty big difference. However, that last pic gives me hope.

the only real change is the loss of the red, which would likely have cost next to nothing to do. this is a design change made for the purpose of design change, rather than to save cash. the second tower redesign, on the other hand, is a cheapening. I actually like it more now though, as the less twins this city has the better.

Just me, but I'm glad they dumped the coloration. Why architects use colors for buildings in the manner they've been suggesting for cities like TO and Miami baffles me.

It's gimmickry, pure and simple.

But I'll change my mind if they can find more elegant ways to integrate color with form than has been shown recently.

The only difference I really see is the loss of the red, which I thought was pretty interesting.

The lattice effect still seems to be black or a darker shade of grey. The difference between the old and new renderings is the older ones were primarily night time renderings (which are usually misleading), while the new ones must have been created by another artist. But there doesn't seem to be too much of a difference between the old and new, so I wouldn't call it "The Cheapening".

What I am most happy about is the fact the DRP (Design Review Panel) found the height to be acceptable. Poor Mr. Matlow must be crying himself to sleep as he chalks up another loss.

It has an elegant 70s feel to it. A welcome sight with all these bland glass boxes going up everywhere. 9/10.

The new rendering highlights the cladding very nicely.

It has a 1960's classy office tower look. I like it.

Well, it'll still be the tallest building in Canada outside of a downtown core (until Eau du Soleil takes the title).

Ive got to buy a shoebox there when prices come down a bit. That pool would be the ultimate for entertaining guests. Imagine the view!

Look forward to it breaking ground. Y&E deserves a 200 meter building but the 6 meters isnt a noticable difference when you're looking skyward.

Yeah, I'm not too broken up about the slight in decrease height here. For Yonge & Eglinton, this is pretty damn tall. It's going to make everything else in neighbourhood look absolutely tiny, except for the Minto towers.

^What was the initial proposed height? Even at a "mere" 638 ft., it's more than 100 ft. higher than the taller of the two Mintos, which looks huge because the area is on a rise. I am also not too offended by the NIMBY meddling in this instance.

Northern cities can look down right dreary in the winter. Lack of green foliage, grey skies, and icy streets take their toll. These things can be mitigated with bright cheery colours. Toronto has lots of red brick row houses, but most of our skyscrapers have lacked warmth. Adding accents of bright red isn't seen as a gimmick, but a smart design choice.

People here are asking for more colour and architects are delivering..... except here it seems we just lost the red.
