I'm not going to jump to any conclusions just yet.

Several renderings make it look that tall.
The hollow top is better than a spire.

Some "new" renderings - the photos they've used as backdrops are medieval though;

Depending on the angle, it appears sometimes in the middle of the other two, some other times next to SWFC.
The trio looks very different.
I wonder what configuration Shanghai will use to sell its image.

The last rendering is amazing. Hopefully this tower starts going up soon. When is the expected date for ground break?

This would be an amazing addition to what already is an impressive skyline of Shanghai. Hope to see this one built soon.

Nice renderings, the skyline looks so much taller,
especially when you see the Shanghai Center in the middle.

Those photos are really old though - Lujiazui has twice as many skyscrapers today, than portrayed in the renderings above.

Ground breaking is expected in December of 2008 with completion in 2014.
... this is going to be a long, long thread.

It'll go fast, first we'll have the Burj, then the Spire, third the Russia Tower and finally this beauty. Four 2000 footers before by 2015 if things go right. Imagine the supertall proposals by 2015, maybe a new category, megatalls.

I hate to say it but there is something amiss in the thread title, 2027 feet is 617.8 meters, not 632, which would be 2073 feet. I love Google!

In my opinion the winning design is by far the best, so classy.

I really like the design. I really like the tower. I really like the city.

And maybe it might just be jealously in me, but wont 2073 feet look a little (or very) overpowering on it's neighbors?

Hasnt everyone been saying that if we make its hieght to big, we take away the glory of Jin Mao and SWFC? Wasnt 1903 already tall enough?
