Like I mentioned in the Rumour thread, this render looks awesome, and it looks like a larger-scale version of office complexes in Oakville/Burlington...

Drove by the site today and they've cleared most of the trees/shrubs and it looks like they will start excavation soon.

Sounds like they are already on the 2nd floor as I checked this morning. This might be the first building that will be completed as it might take awhile for the other two major buildings to reach ground (main) level.

Haven't checked the PVM 2 (just using a fictious name) site on St-Joseph

There was a fire at the site last night, though damage was somewhat minimal

Building is about 6-7 stories up. Should have done a cellphone pic shot from the St-Redempteur/Montclair. The shot from there would have been great.

I'm actually surprised that Gatineau isn't to Ottawa what Brooklyn is to New York; a well-known and unique part of the region, separated by a river but both being fairly well developed. Brooklyn has cheaper housing rates (like Gatineau), and has the best views of the city (like Gatineau) but unlike Gatineau, it is very well developed and has a modest skyline of its own, and bustling entertainment and shopping districts.

I think Jersey's golden coast is a better parallel: Hoboken, Jersey City, etc. A lot of development RIGHT at the water's edge that falls off pretty quickly.

I think this might be a better analogy.

Although the short answer to why Gatineau is not Brooklyn might be that Ottawa is not Manhattan!

Building might be topped off in a about two or three weeks as it is 10 stories up now.

Windows are basically up until the 8th or 9th floor right now.

It will be great to see these other mid-rises in the skyline in the near future...
