Not sure where you last saw. So far the District 36 lofts on 36 Dexter have been complete for a few months. Island Delight (Caribbean food joint), Frios (ice pops) and Mama Goldbergs have been open since the winter. Along with a small alley way pocket park.

The Kress On Dexter retail area is close to being done. Still finishing out their pocket park. The lofts have been completed for some time.

The building at Dexter and South Perry has been gutted for a few months now for a Alloz Grill but is taking a while.

Ive heard of unofficial plans for the One Dexter but nothing is going on so far.

There's still a few more vacant buildings left on the lower end but haven't heard of anyone buying them yet.

Marjam has placed signs in the top windows of the old One Court Square building. Any idea of what's going on or what they're about to do with it?

Here's some info on the new Peace and Justice Museum opening Thursday (4/26) in Downtown Montgomery. The concert for the opening will be at the Riverwalk Amphitheater on Friday (4/27) and will include Common, Usher, the Dave Matthews Band and The Roots.

Already today celebrities are being spotted walking and eating downtown in anticipation of tomorrow and Friday's events...including John Legend and his wife Chrissy Teigen.

My apologizes to my friends and family across the country. I promised you all that I'd update what's happening here on this thread but took me a while to get around to it.

Update:

This is the 3rd hotel recently announced to be built downtown. It'll be a five-star Marriott Autograph Collection boutique hotel. The historic Murphy House at 22 Bibb St. and a warehouse connected to it will give the hotel 100 rooms. The owner of the hotel said the house's dining room will become a "destination" restaurant. "This will be probably one of the top restaurants in Montgomery and will become a destination," Ascent Hospitality President John Tampa said.

Plus it will have two bars; with one being a roof top bar.

Full story from the Montgomery Advertiser

Interestingly, the warehouse connected to the Murphy House is also joined up with the building that will become the Springhill & Suites Hotel.

That is strange.

The same people that are renovating the Bishop-PArker building for a hotel, is also renovating the old Water Works Board building into a Marriott Signature Collection Hotel.

And it will back up to each other. Wonder where the parking spaces will come from?

And thanks to all who post here about Montgomery Development. It's the only place that actually has a specific place that shows current developments.

Glad to see things advancing so nicely downtown. Anybody know why work has seemingly stopped on the renovation at the southeat quadrant of Dexter and Perry and also the site of the former Montgomery Theater/Webber building?

I know, right? There's only so much space available at the deck behind city hall and the old Union Bank deck used by Hampton Inn and some other businesses. The Riverwalk deck on Coosa St. is limited too, especially on game days. ...I don't know, maybe a new deck is on tap at some point.

...been wondering the same thing. As for the building at Dexter and Perry, I've heard everything from having to replace old utility lines (gas, water, sewer, electric) to having to shore up the building's structural columns. That was over 3 months ago...

Could be funding issues. Who knows.

exactly. I personally believe that's the main reason. There are always "surprises" with historic renovations.

Update:

This is the 4th hotel project that is currently undergoing development downtown.

It'll be an 80-room boutique hotel with four restaurants (a sports bar, a sushi restaurant, and at least two other eateries), 6,000 square feet of retail, a spa, and a rooftop bar overlooking downtown.

I'm kind'a looking forward to its completion...although it seems like SYS-CON is taking their sweet time restarting construction.
