Yea....I'm very disappointed by the reclad going on with the Richmond Adelaide Centre.....it's a strange decision to thange the hue...considering the cost difference between either hue isn't going to be much.

I'm pretty sure the cladding on that building isn't that worn either....I think it could easily be on for another ten or fifteen years without a great concern structurally or visually.

I think they are trying to match the glass on the new tower. It's a terrible idea, Oxford has really dropped the ball here.

The Calgary one looks awesome especially in contrast to all of these bargain basement reclads. An actual double skin if I'm seeing the rendering right! It does lose many points is it isn't.

From what I’ve read on other forums it’s double skinned. Here’s some additional renderings and info: https://www.ucalgary.ca/campusforwar...house-march-28

Finally a reclad for this building situated right next to City Hall in the heart of the Old Town. On the first picture, you can see that steel anchors had been added to the facade in order to prevent some of the masonry from falling. The building used to house office space but it is currently being transformed in order to accomodate 49 airbnb apartments. The terrace on top will be accessible to the public.

I can't say I'm too fond of the addition. It's much better than the parking deck but, it takes away from the original tower. Still a great project.

How does the owner ever expect to recoup the costs from 49 short term apartments?!?

It's a 49 room hotel using Air BnB to skirt the wide variety of regulations that apply to operating a real hotel.

I don't understand why we can't define a building as a one room hotel and force Air BnB to follow those regulations? So many businesses in this economy have their business models built on clever ways to subjugate the rules we put in place to stop ourselves from being abused in the first place, it's kind of sad.

Jean Edmonds Towers reclad. Pics by me, but it's not as obvious as in real life.

Basically, they installed chocolate brown medal panels over the expired chocolate brown pre-cast panels.

The one closest to the camera in both cases is the medal reclad.

This thread just reminded me about 130 Adelaide in TO. Walked by it today and noticed the scaffolding. I used to work there 7 years ago at Laurentian and I see it is being re-clad... for the worse.

They filmed a scene from the amazing movie Enemy here in the lobby. They set up the lobby as an office complete with desks even though the lobby is almost bare. I thought they'd be able to find existing street level office setup somewhere in the city to make it easier.

Not sure if this has been posted on here before. New to this thread.

New on the left. Old on the right. Doesn't look grey like that in real life. More black, which I think looks nicer:

Lol. Was meant to be. Only walked by and noticed this because I was walking to The Bay to partake in their one day only suit sales. Other than that, I usually don't like walking along this stretch of Adelaide because of either scaffolding on the sidewalk or how close you have to walk to the road. Much prefer taking King or the PATH when going east.

Plus my job at Laurentian was kinda shitty. And they moved us from the 2nd floor, where we had enormous, high cubicles to some bastardized feng shui shit on the 5th floor. They took away our garbage and recycle bins. The divider between desks was maybe a few inches high. And the cubicles were so small I couldn't even turn around in my chair without banging my knees. And I had to resort to using the floor as storage.

In progress shots of the reclad of the 15 storey Canaccord Financial Place in Vancouver:

I kept them large intentionally so you guys can see the details.

That's quite the elaborate setup for a reclad on a relatively short tower.

Is that tower really only 15 storeys? I was looking at it from my condo today and I clearly remember looking up, even though I was on the 29th floor.
