I think it's a disgrace that they've allowed the building to fester in the dirt like this. You can still see where the construction elevator was 3 year after it was removed! It's ridiculous. The most prominent glass tower in NYC and it never gets washed. I actually reached out to the Port Authority about it and they pointed me to Durst and Silverstein orgs who never responded...

the CNBC news channel on 9/1/16 showed a new 1 hour show
about rebuilding the area Ground Zero Rising/Freedom
BUT the glass on ONE World Trade looks very bad
almost like they were doing it on purpose to show the glass.

Well, for what it's worth, its only when you're up close to the building that you really notice the need for cleaning. Otherwise it looks great from pretty much every skyline angle; particularly looking from JC at sunset.

But dinner plates and other “212” merchandise designed before Sept. 11, 2001, will still have the twin towers in the silhouetted skyline, Julie Gaines, an owner, said......

When comparing the original One World Trade Center Twin Tower, with the New One WTC.. Would it be an accurate statement to say that the original One WTC had more square footage?

Yes, that is accurate. Each of the Twin Towers had ~4 million square feet of space while the new Tower 1 has ~3.5 million.

When the building opened its doors two summers ago, the Durst Organization noticed that these elevator banks became a natural mingling area, and so decided to forego plans to make the space into offices and instead keep it open as an open sky lobby.

Commercial Observer got a first look at renderings of the commons designed by Gensler, whose principal and design director Tom Vecchione referred to it as “a shared piazza for the entire building.” In addition to a cafe, it will offer a game room and a 180-person meeting room that can be split into two or host fitness and yoga classes.

The 25,000-square-foot space differs from the Observatory in that it will be open only to building tenants and their guests. An additional 5,000 square feet on the floor is dedicated to the elevators and a reception area for a large-scale tenant above. Between the buildout and supporting infrastructure, the project is expected to cost $14 million. It’s scheduled for completion at the beginning of next year, and Durst is currently looking for a third-party operator to manage the facility on a day-to-day basis.

So I've seen the window washers clean what seems like the whole tower - is the glass just dirty or is it actually a different color/opacity?

You've seen them cleaning? I haven't. Last I looked you could still clearly see where the connstruction elevator was on the East façade.

Is this already a double height floor or do they need to cut the slab to create this hole? I've always been interested in open galleries and stairwells between floors within high rise towers like this. The original WTC had quite a few of these types of cut-aways. I remember the one in the Fiduciary Trust offices between 96 and 97 in Tower 2.

Finally got around to posted these pics from the observation deck, taken two weeks ago. The deck is pretty much the same as before. It can be crowded, but they've found a way
