Can you modify database drawings or do you have to start from scratch?

I use my drawings from the diagrams as the base textures on the buildings, but its more complicated than that... quite a bit of work goes into modifying the drawing to properly fit the shape/height of each tower. That's just the biggest or most prominent towers though. The smaller ones I use generic textures, or small pieces of the good textures, but stretched to fit and often re-colored or re-sized... in time I'll put good textures on all towers, even the small ones. Some towers that I never made a drawing of, I do need to start from scratch...

Toronto, very slowly, and very methodically adding skyscraper mass. Just because the city is already large, you can barely notice the incremental adds

It definitely is... and growing outwards too. Regent Park, on the East side of downtown, is expanding outwards and upwards rapidly, as is the King/Queen area between. Also growing upwards is the Distillery district, and possibly soon we'll have a high-rise cluster at East Harbour. I think that whole area will become much more "downtown-like" sooner than most people realize...

If anyone wants some perspective.

From the lake to the top of the picture (Yonge-Eglinton) is the same length as Manhattan. Obviously a lot more needs to be filled in.

Wow, I did not know that! So you're saying that Queens Quay to Yonge Eglinton, is the same distance as the tip of Manhattan's financial center to the border of South Bronx?

To clarify: From the lake to Yonge/Eglinton is about 8 km or 5 miles, and from the southern tip of Manhattan to the middle of Central Park is about 8 km or 5 miles. That part of the city includes the vast majority of the city's hundreds of skyscrapers... but all of Manhattan is twice that size.

Also, just like Toronto, Manhattan is not anywhere close to being completely covered in skyscrapers...

End to end Manhattan is close to 19km. That takes you from Yonge and Queen's Quay to a bit past Steeles!

Yeah, if Toronto wants truly endless skyline it needs to fill in between Eglinton and North York...

Thanks for the clarification guys.

Obviously, I didn't do my homework.

New York has been building massive skyscrapers now for almost 100 years straight. Not likely we will ever catch them in a meaningful way.

What software are you using? I think I've asked before. If you ever want help adding some details or textures to certain buildings or sections I'd love to help you out.

I use Maya but can import export in multiple formats.

Y&E, Davisville and, St Clair probably will always be islands. The best case scenario is a connecting sandbar.

Last time I was on Emporis I felt they had some inflated values for Toronto's older residential buildings. 8 foot ceilings with a 5 metre elevator overrun takes a lot of floors to reach 100 metres.

There's 56 skyscrapers under construction. I think you need to reevaluate what you mean by Toronto not building tall.
