Once I saw those aerial shots of 1WTC,and even though no yet complete,I realized just how iconic this building looked as the newscasters on board the helicopter covered the news.

So, Otie, was that the beacon being formed or what? I know welders will use plates to temporarily secure parts to form the final product, But that looked pretty wicked! Good use of reflective design in that case. Looking forward to seeing a polygonal representation of the origional spire at least. I bet some LED "Twist tie" lighting goes in behind the metal, how awesome would that be!? With the beacon it could be epic. Dreamin away...

It was raining that evening. It's extremely difficult to even consider doing that in that condition.

You can view past images at the WTC Progress cam - but - it's not too easy to tell if it's lit blue/white.

http://oxblue.com/open/panynj/wtc

There is a calendar on the side, and you can select the time of day you want to view from there.

Back to 1 WTC and the new steel... It looks like they have started to put up blue netting around the new steel, and they're almost done cladding the current floor on the south side. I bet they'll finish that today (not much left to clad now) and start on the next floor on Carlos' side. Carlos - would you be able to verify the first part with a photograph?

But due to the nature of this project, they're going to celebrate the parapet erection.

The parapet structure is formed basically by the perimeter columns extending 33 feet above the roof slab with spandrel beams spanning between columns.

They're drowning, better get some lifebuoys.

So this steel looking contraption is what holds the spire? or part of the parapet? Either way, when it is installed, that marks the topping out?

Jump

These columns look smaller than the usual, but since this is 102, the next jump goes to 104 right?
We're not on mechanical floors right?
Considering Otie said the roof is 1,334.

Previous 1,244
After 1,271

So Next is 1,271
then 1,334?

104 floor is 1,313 feet but in my opinion that is a 42 foot jump and that seems to high for me considering they never did a jump that high before.
