There was a Megastructures episiode about concrete structures on the 14th November that had a ten minute part on the Burj Dubai whilst at level 30, so was quite old but at least someone is documenting it!

Whether it will be shown before or after completion remains to be seen!

Maybe someone can/will upload to Youtube, although copyright issues are starting to become a problem on that website since it was sold to Google. Also, if it was on the Discovery Ch., then it will probably get repeated.

Besides, old pics of the tower are still nice to look at. This unposted pic (until now) was from around the same time as the episode (May):

Hi all.
I agree Bikes - your site is looking good man.
Hey Slugbelch - your skills are unreal man - any and all the old pics you find are greatly appreciated by some of us here. I'm collecting all info / pics I find - I truly believe this is the geatest structure of our lifetime ! I refer to the Burj as a structure verses a skyscraper 'cus it is gonna hold all the records. I like the tallest structure on earth idea - so I don't care how thin or tall the spire is. The fact at that point is it is taller than even guyed masts so even if it is very thin, it is still the tallest manmade point on earth - stretch it boys, stretch it ....

News from the Schmidin Groups Burj Dubai's site official.

The Al Abbar Group and Gartner LLC who was given the cladding rights to the Burj Tower Podium and pool complex has now been awarded the full contract to complete the curtain walling instead of the now defunct and struggling Schmidlin LLC Group over political and logistical issues with the companies Swiss head office and the failing of strict first cladding tests.

Transfer of information about the build will be released to them in stages in order to protect the final height debate as yet again the design of the upper stage is under review, pending investigation into structural re-enforcements to allow for the new height to be acheived!

Here's the companies website http://www.alabbargroup.com/portfolio/burjdxb.htm

So, mixed news good and bad....it's gonna get taller, but expect delays!

^Interesting news. I wonder what they mean by political and logistical issues. I fall on the side of "no glass" for as long as possible. The night pics look awsome without the glass covering the light.

Actual date was NOV. 27:

Mmm, agreed! Not often do we get to see a future WTB of this height naked!

I think Al Abbar will make a lovely skimpy little outfit for the future Mrs Sky Tower!

Scantilly clad in UV relflective glass, polished aluminium and shiny stainless steel, with her new set of ultra tall stilettos......it will be an exhillerating ride as I enter her core and shoot up her at 43mph, reaching a climax at the pinnacle of her undisclosed precipice.

What?

Ok, who's stolen the 'Burj Dubai...WTB' thread in the Highrise section?

I was in the middle of posting something very informative, witty and interesting and some a**hole stole it!

Where'd it go?

Welcome to SSP johnawalsh, you are probably in the best thread for info on the Burj Dubai Tower, take a look through some of the previous pages and you'll find a whole host of really useful information here about the construction updates.

Alternatively, take a look at: http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=106899

or the previous archive thread, starting May 2004 to Nov 2006:
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...t=61955&page=1

For all other UAE info, including Burj Dubai updates, try:

Thanks for the welcome

Ive been watching the board for ages, and reading with growing incredulity 1) the growth of this mega structure 2) the secrecy of the intended height of the building.
But most of all, I love the speculation of alll the other board members of each new feature, disclosed by the fantastic pictures that are regularly posted. May I take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who have posted pictures/articles/weblinks regarding this exciting project, and long may you continue.

John
