Do you have a potential job lined up in Ottawa?

Yes, yes I do.

I hate to be added to the growing list of young people who have left the Maritimes for other areas but i've been getting myself involved more and more in politics and that is whisking me away.

Good to know I have people to see when I get the opportunity to go there.

Guess we've identified who the replacement Senators will be.

Just kidding. Good luck in O-Town. While I'm living in Freddy now, I spent all but one of my co-op work terms in Ottawa, as well as a year and a half in a real job there, and I'd love to go back there. But my current job is stable and my roots are growing here, so I'm sticking around Freddy for the foreseeable future.

I'm in the process right now of applying for a decent job in Fredericton as well but i'm leaning more towards Ottawa at this point. I feel I need to get out and live in a big(ger) city for a little bit. That, and, Federal > Provincial.

I need more people moving to charlottetown haha. I'm getting lonely, especially knowing that the St. John's forumers are getting together for pints on a regular basis now

We've had meetups in New Brunswick before. A few happened in Freddy a couple years ago. I've met quite a few forumers in person. It'd be great to have another one though!

I'd be down for a meetup in any of the three cities in NB.

Oh, it means that you are going to be close to Montreal which is the greatest asset of Ottawa to me.

Anyhow, good luck my friend !

Thanks Erick! Yeah, a lot of people that I know in Ottawa always talk about spending weekends in Montreal.

Honestly Montreal is a place where I would like to live in the future. So many awesome things about that city.

Hi guys!

As a few of you know, I'm currently participating in a program called 21 Inc. Their official page could probably do a lot better job of explaining the program than I could. That said, one component of it is we have to do a community-related project involving some aspect of New Brunswick.

Naturally I've chosen urban issues as my topic. I've created a website called CitizenNB who's goal is to encourage discussion about basically all things urban in the province. I really like the forum concept of SSP and how anyone can contribute to the discussion. My idea though is to create a space where people around the province who are 'doing things' related to making our communities better places, giving them a place to present their ideas or concepts, and then to foster debate, educate, and drum up interest.

I guess ultimately my goal is to bridge the divide between the public and change leaders. A really good example of what I'm thinking of would be the current debate over the roundabout proposal in Fredericton. Or get someone from a transit service to talk about why density is important etc.

Anyway, I was hoping to pick your guys' brains. I'd love suggestions, ideas and topics! I'd especially appreciate any kinds of content contributions (photos, ideas, post comments).

Thanks for reading. I hope this didn't seem too spammy, but it's in line with a lot of the discussions we have on here and I value your insights.

Do you use two or more different words for the same thing?

I Googled a picture of fries, dressing and gravy just now and it said "Chips, dressing and gravy". And I thought, that's so weird... I'd never use chips in that sentence.

And then I thought about what I do, and it's so mixed. I usually say chips, but sometimes say fries, depending on the context. For example:

Plate of chips (I would NEVER say plate of fries)
Fry up some chips (I would NEVER say fries)
Fries, dressing and gravy (I would NEVER say chips)
Mom's chips (means homemade fries)... I'd use either of those.

Anyone else do this?

I'm just seeing this (super bored and digging in hard to SSP tonight )

Chips is a weird one for me, I often don't use it, unless specifically ordering fries with fish with "fish and chips". I remember being so confused when my mother said fish and chips when I was younger, all I was thinking was "why would you eat Lays with cod fish?"

Nobody has posted anything recently in the community thread, and since we are now firmly in the winter doldrums as far as development news is concerned, I will take this opportunity to wish everyone here on the Atlantic section of SSP a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Here's hoping 2014 will bring us all some positive news on the development front.

In particular, my wish for Moncton is that we finally build momentum for the final announcement for the construction of the Downtown Events Centre……….

I will also put in a special wish for SJ to see movement on redevelopment of the Coast Guard site.

These two megaprojects would change the face and urban character of New Brunswick's two largest cities, and would help to turn our provincial economy around. They are both needed…...
