'Texas University'? Never heard of it...

Anyway, this street/house looks familiar. Did Linklater use it in 'Slacker'?

Great shots, Boris! I really wish I could have met up with you today, but I just couldn't make it. Nice to see the UT Campus for a change. I rarely make it up there myself.

Where exactly was this? I'm assuming it was on The Drag, (Guadalupe), but where? I need to get my butt down there and check this out. I love murals, and it looks like there's a compilation of Texas highrises, I recognize the Shoreline Plaza tower's base there and maybe the Chase Tower in McAllen. There is some brutally cool murals and street art around UT. I need to get up there more often and take some pics.

This is one of only two statues of Martin Luther King Jr. in the US. The other is in Atlanta of course.

That is located in the 22nd Street Artist Renaissance District along Guadalupe. And, btw, there are several MLK statues in the US (the ones in Portland and Birmingham come to mind).

Love that place (in fact I am in my UT campus dorm right now)

I always like your threads Boris!

Very good thread. I always like the funky college kids, and the hot chicks that come along with them.

Nice pics. UT Austin probably has one of the most urban campuses in the United States. It always amazes me that the largest university in the state, with over 50,000 students, is right in the center of downtown Austin (or very close to it anyway).

Technically UT is immediately north of downtown, but it does border it. Everything north of 19th Street to about 30th Street, and east of Guadalupe Street (The Drag), to I-35.

Great photos, Boris. My fave was the one of the guy "studying" (passed out in the grass. ) Wonder how much liquor was in that almost-empty plastic cup with the straw?

As someone else mentioned, it's over by Guadelupe and 22nd. Clumps of highrises and other landmarks are supposed to represent cities throughout Texas. Here's a wider view I took last November.

This is a close up of the section that's supposed to represent Austin. Interesting that at the time it was painted, the old Robert Mueller Municipal Airport control tower was considered a landmark.

Considering the old airport is completely gone (except for the control tower) I'd say it's more of a landmark now than it was then. It's kind of cool just because it looks so out of place, now.

You know, the "no bra look" just doesn't do it for me...at least not in public.

The guy in the center is going to turn his head a little further to the left for a quick glance.

Boris, nice photos. But I think your sister has the brains in the family.

Thanks, Mike. I definitely will check it out. I love murals to death, especially anything that relates to cities like that.

A lot of people are missing out on this thread I think. UT is one of the most urban places in Texas. Sometimes I wonder if it's not the most urban.
