I think having police parked on each street at closing time would make the situation better.......maybe?

I realize that the youngins need to have fun too.
I carry a cell on me and have zero tolerance for violence or destruction of property. I've only had to make a few calls to police, and the times that I have called police have responded within about 10 minutes. So, not bad.

The big issue I think is that there needs to be a continued strategic effort on disrupting known crime hotspots (i.e.: essentially drug dealing). Just make sure to report issues like this if it is in progress so police can respond, or at least have documentation that there is an problem.

I think that goes part and parcel with the core / inner city. Gangs, violence, parties, drugs and alcohol.

Bankview site of 2nd homicide in Calgary this year:

Other than gangs (most of Calgary's gang activity is in the 'burbs, like the NE) I don't see what was wrong with anything he said. Besides, someone of us *like* our drugs and our alcohol and our parties, hence heading into the inner city to seek them out.

Well, he spelled "homicide" wrong.

The kid (20-year-old recent arrival from Sudan) was murdered at a house party a couple of blocks from our home on what's a pretty beautiful street- in fact a friend rehabbed the red house next to the party house. 16 St b/t 19 and 21 ave SW. Very sad for the hapless young guy- "blunt force" could have just been an unlucky punch.

QR77 report:

A man in his 20s was Tasered by City police after he became aggressive when they approached him.
Residents on Discovery Ridge Way in the southwest called 911 Friday night saying there was a man dressed inappropriately for the weather in their backyard screaming and acting strangely.
The police helicopter helped locate the man, but he became aggressive and that's when officers deployed the Taser.
Police say the man admitted to taking drugs, but didn't specify what kind.

I never even noticed that. Kind of an unfortunate typo - not sure I'm keen on the new word, I must say.

Isn't Discovery Ridge in the suburbs? Time to move!

I hope we have another good year like last year, and Edmonton gets their issues sorted out, 6/100 000 is too high for a Canadian city.

Killarney drug house

http://www.calgaryherald.com/Officia...379/story.html

Quote:

Ward 8 Alderman John Mar stands outside an infamous home in Killarney that has been the scene of multiple crimes including murder. The home was closed for 90 days earlier this year under a SCAN order.

---
Authorities are gearing up to inspect a notorious drug house Wednesday, but the Killarney home’s seller says there are no violations to be found.

Alberta Health Services and city officials are poised to investigate health concerns as well as municipal and provincial infractions at 3716 Kilkenny Rd. S.W.

The home is also the scene of a Nov. 20 homicide of Norman William Andrews.

The home was closed for 90 days earlier this year when the SCAN team used the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods Act to shutter the residence.

However, the previous owner of the house was able to circumvent the previous order and move back in by selling the house and renting it from the new owner Rick Laszlo.

Time for Massage, a business in the 1000 block of 19 Avenue S.E., became the focus of a police probe in December following reports of illicit sexual activity there, officials said.

After a search warrant was executed, a 49-year-old woman was charged with one count each of keeping a common bawdy house and benefiting from proceeds of crime.
<>
Police conducted a separate sting last month focusing on street-level prostitution downtown and in southeast Calgary.
<>
Investigators laid 23 charges and issued 28 summonses.

They should just legalize it already, and weed too. People are obviously willing to risk jail for both, and the current laws don't seem to be much of a deterrent, plus there's the whole organized crime thing too.

Most of her clientele were from the burbs whose wives were too exhausted from driving their kids all over the place.

Kidding aside, I knew of someone who once had a business in two doors down. One day the guy looks out and he sees a friend leave the rub'n'tug. His buddy notices him and almost craps himself. Not sure why, but it kind of strained their friendship.

All I can think of is: Why did it take so long?

A massage parlour in a tiny house on the edge of an industrial area, seems legit..

All I can think of is who the F would pay for a happy ending from a 49 year old.
