This fella could seriously impact how much transborder traffic there is over the next few years.

^^ Good thing then that YWG is built with a flexible US preclearance area that can easily be shrunk down and repurposed quickly if transborder traffic drops.

With the same seasonal frequency and timeframe as last year?

Also, not huge news, but this upcoming month, the morning UA flight sees a CR7 replacing one of the CR1/2 aircraft. Forward bookings must be doing slightly better.

Edit: looking at it, many of the flights are mostly sold out as far out as a month from now.

WestJet published highlights of their summer schedule. Apparently YWG gets increased frequency on WestJet to YYC, now seven times a day. That seems somewhat excessive but considering WestJet is all about diverting YWG origin traffic to YYC it makes sense.

No, not really. Calgary is their main hub. With Winnipeg being busier it makes more sense. We've also gained frequency to Edmonton, separately
.

Westjet already offers 6 non-stop flights per day to Calgary during the winter. Don't see why a seventh during the summer would be excessive.

All the current flights are on 737s, so I'd expect that the 7th would also be on one as well.

I'm sure this will come as a big relief to the Edmonton gang who seemed to be more worried about the fate of this flight than anyone here.
I just checked the WRIA website, and according to them, the YWG-LGW weekly direct flights are slated to start up again in May 2017. So perhaps it hasn't been shortened after all.

I'm guessing that must not have been changed. The flights don't show up until July in Westjet's schedule.

Something big with four engines just buzzed my house. Can't seem to find any details on my flight tracking app.

Was it a C130 Hercules? They usually buzz around the city at least once a month or so.

It could also be Antonov Airlines with their Antonov An-124 cargo jet that makes the occasional stop here too.

Reading the PDF file on what the proposed flight plans are, compared to the existing flight plans, and it actually makes sense on all fronts. I can't see how this can be rejected, considering the obvious facts involved already.
