I walked by this site about a week and a half ago. I saw they were drilling on the other side of that concrete wall that they knocked down near the train tracks. It is visible in the last picture posted by summersm via Building Philly. Anyone know why they may be drilling in that location?

Saw you commented on CY in the CITC thread, any idea on the yardage for FMC?

Any word on this pour? Did it happen last night, or is it still underway right now?

Looks like the pour happened. There is a tarp covering the rebar and I can see some concrete splatter here and there, though it's tough to see here. Pics from this afternoon.

They were drilling on the other side of the wall while I was there (around 2-3pm):

Maybe someone who knows more than I do can jump in here. I'm just judging from what I saw at the site today & basing the assessment on my untrained eye.

Yes, the pour did happen. I believe it was +/- 1800 yards of 6000 PSI.

pour started at 1am finished around 8:30 am, then covered to keep it warm. 1570 cy (the volume of rebar displaces some volume) ....a long night.

Very light rain for first few hours. Heavy rain around 10:45 but all that was happening then was covering and cleanup. Weather would not have been much of a factor but for production from the crew because being cold tired and wet equals slower work.

To answer what is going on "over the wall": The drilled pier and excavation on the other side of the wall is for 5 tower columns that are in the Amtrak right-of-way. The existing concrete bents are what remains of the Post Office Annex building. They support caternary lines for Amtrak lines that cannot be removed.

Neither rain nor snow nor sleet nor Godzilla can stop these staid workers in the pursuit of building a big tall new building.

With all the media attention CITC just got with their pour, I guess that makes FMC the redheaded step-child.

Looking at some of these pics, I was thinking that if I was walking by this site, I'd look down and wonder what they are building ... not even being able to imagine it could be a 700+ft skyscraper. CITC on the other hand ... you KNOW something big is going on there.
