^^There's that lighter color row of glass on each side (south and north), not sure if temporary or permanent - maybe a mechanical floor?

Nope. It's visible in some of the original renderings (look closely):

I really don't want to like the CITC, namely because it's Comcast, but at the same time this is really looking impressive. I hate comparing cities, but this isn't the kind of building you'd find in any city routinely compared to Philadelphia. The West Coast doesn't build any skyscrapers this edgy, and back east you'd only find something like this in New York or Chicago...or Europe. To borrow Oldsmobile's defunct slogan, this building says "this isn't your father's Philadelphia."

Yep-this is the big league stuff where the big boys play. Seriously, that's what you get with a company that brings in 78 billion in annual revenues and a market cap of 150 billions.

After a Temple football win (GO OWLS!) and a crazy night of partying on Gratz Street, this was the very first thing I saw coming outside yesterday (10/30) morning!

Mech Floor

Floor seems to be a mechanical floor. Most utilities are housed up top but there will be a few more floors with this look per CDR application.

Probably also assists in the displacement ventilation called out

what you guys are describing are louvers- every building has them. YOu need fresh air for the AC system and combustion air for boilers and other pieces of equipment that burn things. The larger your building, the more fresh air intake surface area you will need to meet code/comfort requirements.

hello, new guy here, born in South Philly 50 years ago & have lived in the burbs just outside the city ever since. Not an architect, engineer or builder of any kind just enjoy observing these structures. My morning commute takes me down Route 1 into Media every day and from a position where it intersects with Route 352 you can see the big buildings of the skyline; about 6 months ago the new Comcast building peeked up above the tree line for the first time, at that time it was very distinct as it was just the concrete core but now the steel is also in view. As I drive down the hill toward this site the skyline slowly disappears with the last visible structure being the original Comcast building. Soon enough I'll be able to get a little further down the hill before only the lantern of the new building will be visible, looking forward to that. I tried to take a picture from my vantage point a couple days ago but my crappy iphone doesn't really do it justice, but you get the idea:

Welcome aboard Marcos!! Nice vantage point there. If it is safe to take pictures from there, it would be cool to see them as the skyline progresses!
But only if it is safe!

Thanks, and yes indeed it is. I had been contemplating taking these pictures for several months now & finally did it. They were actually taken from the 352 overpass to Route 1, there's a walkway which is the perfect spot as it's dead center to the skyline and also the highest possible point from this particular vantage point. My son is a pretty good photographer & has much better equipment than me & I'm trying to recruit him to help me out, of course trying to get a 20 year old to cooperate is another story

I do have a question about this project, is it proceeding at a 'normal' speed for a skyscraper of its size? I get into town for work once a month give or take and have been for many years. I always make a point to do a walk by these large projects, check the progress & so forth. The Comcast buildings have been great to watch as they're right across the street from my go to breakfast spot (Corner Bakery) so I kill two birds with one stone when there. I don't know if it's just the anticipation of seeing this particular one finished or what but it seems to be going slowly?
