One of those segments NBC10 did a while back showed that the crane operator got off at the top most completed floor (where concrete had been poured and cured) and climbed the crane tower from there.

although i was initially disappointed with the roof height, i like how it blends into the skyline looking west, and dominates looking to the east. gonna be an awesome building.

I just keep imagining that same view with all the University City/Schuylkill Yards projects effectively doubling the skyline. Philly came in from behind in the skyline race and is barrelling forward now.

Agreed, but that's because of the height limit in the city until the late 80s that you could not build taller than City Hall which is 548 feet tall. Exciting to see the Schuylkill Yards project get kicked off, hopefully bringing another Supertall to the city... and eventually the capping of the rail yards north of 30th Street Station.

Those are decorative, and not structural, and should be installed when the rest of the upper facade is installed.

Don't worry, dude--your skyscraper porn will be nice and erect.

So do I! In addition to that, I keep on imagining how much denser this view of Center City will look once 2100 Market, 1911 Walnut, the W, and 1300 Market are all complete! Each one of these towers are going to fill major gaps* in the Center City skyline. The skyline seemingly gets better every year!

*The W will make a big impact rather than "fill a gap", per se. At 582', the W will be taller than the Residences at Ritz-Carlton (518') and City Hall (548'). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe part of RATR will be visible. The Girard Trust Building will be completely blocked out, and City Hall will still be visible.

I know nothing about the construction business and building policies. I was wondering: does work continue on the cold, blustery, and snowy days like we've been having this weekend? If not, what conditions does the weather have to be for work to resume?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I'll translate that paragraph to: "Damn workers taking there good old time. This is taking too long! They should be topped out by now." Joking aside.

I'd assume snow and rain slow or stop crane use and steel construction. Of also assume inside work still gets done in the elements.

Edit: webcam is frozen. Somebody go up there and shake it a little bit.

I'm sure it's been said before... but I get a 1 & 3 WTC vibe from Philly's Comcast towers.

What's up with some bracings being blue and others being white? It's been irritating me for a while now.

It's just a protective film/covering. All of it with be silver/gray/gunmetal. Some of the blue covering has been removed or has fallen off, and some are still on.
