Tainan Botoku Dojo 台南武德殿

2007-12-1 is the opening ceremony for Tainan’s Botoku Dojo 武德殿. The City Hall invited delegates from Tainan’s sister-city – Sendai. There was a kendo competition.

Botoku Dojo used be the place for police officers to practice martial arts. This particular one Tainan was built in 1936 and is the biggest in Taiwan. It was burnt down three years ago in an accident.

This ceremony is for the re-opening of the Dojo. The architecture of the Dojo makes good contrast to the Confucius temple nearby.

One of my friends in TW joined a kendo club in a university. He showed me many of the pics of him practicing kendo. If I had attended a university in Taiwan, I would definitely join a kendo club. Simply, it looks really cool wearing those kendo suits. lol

It's good to see that they renovated the building and acutally use the building for it's original use.
