MELBOURNE | West Side Place | 211 M | 270 M | ~235 M | 240 M | 65L, 81L, 70L, 72L

This has been rumoured for ages given that Fairfax ("The Age" www.theage.com.au ) moved into their new digs 18 months ago down the Street.

Nice proposal! What about the recent news about housing prices declinig 5% or so, which I think is a good thing (prices seem to have got a little too pricy)! Also, are there any office proposals in and aroud the CBD?

re: house prices - yep the median went down by 5-6% y/y

There's a suburb in the outer west where there's 25% vacancy rate!!

apartments are still selling however - a lot of buyers from overseas. A lot of this site will be residential obviously, but it looks more mixed than what we're used to.

re: office:

That is wonderful. That tower on the left looks like it's made out of huge glass bricks. Very cool design. Austin should have gotten something like this for our GreenWater project.

Four-Tower West Side Place to Include Australia's Tallest Hotel

Quote:
A new mixed-use project in Melbourne seeks to replicate the hospitality of the Ritz-Carlton brand by bringing luxury amenity-laden spaces to a residential setting. Far East Consortium's $2.6 billion AUD West Side Place development will anchor the corner of Lonsdale and Spencer Streets in the central business district with four skyscrapers designed and masterplanned by Cottee Parker Architects.

Towers in Melbourne always have the most unique facade designs. I quite like this one.

Agreed. Shame the market rates for curtainwall down reflect the complexity! Too many outsourced facades coming in from China. Cheap and cheaper.

This is a bad-ass design.
