I can see it now, Orlando becoming a true urban city, and whatever they're doing, they're doing it up right!

Since the photos were taken highrise construction has slowed to a trickle BUT: a half-billion dollar sports arena has been completed, a half-billion dollar performing arts center is under construction, a commuter rail line is under construction and about 2,000 apartments are planned or under construction currently.

Cirrus, it has been about 3 years since you posted this, and your wish has nearly been granted. The commuter rail is under construction, with a multi-modal station at this location:

The first commuter line will be ready in 2014.

The downtown BRT you've mentioned is also undergoing an expansion ( a second line on an East/West axis compared to the current N/S configuration) that will double the system in size.

Sunshineboy, thank you for construction pictures of the performing arts center. This building is really going to tie in 2 full blocks on the southern edge of downtown. I cannot wait for the 2014 inaugural season!
