NYC Skyline from NJ, April 2018

Just thought I'd share some pictures I took yesterday of a city that blows my socks off.

Excellent set, what were you doing down in NYC?

Puts our excitement over 1 Dalton in some sobering perspective, eh? Hudson Yards looks off the hook.

The changes over the past three years are mind-boggling. I happened to be driving north on the Turnpike this past weekend heading home from visiting in-laws in Wilmington and it was the first time I'd seen the full impact of Hudson Yards on the skyline from the west. It just dominates.

These are really great. Those are pretty much exactly the type of photos I'd take of New York. I love studying a skyline and all the little things and big things in it with a camera.

Awesome shots. This is seriously the best collection of skyscrapers in the world.

As a skyline geek, I drove down pretty much exclusively for the skyline views! Overnighted in the Catskills to break up the trip, which was also a nice change of pace.

1 Dalton still looks good, but yeah NYC makes Boston look like a stunted little village.

In case you get the chance....
Pics 1786 - 1808 are from Liberty State Park in Jersey City (free parking!)
Pics 1817 - 1842 are from Frank Sinatra Blvd in Hoboken (metered parking, but free on Sundays!)

Then my absolute favorite spot, pics 1858 - 1929 are from Hamilton Park in Weehauken. There's an amazing 1 mile stretch with multiple elevated parks there along JFK Blvd East. (free parking!)

I had to do survey work at Hoboken Station exactly one year ago around this time, and stayed north of Liberty State Park. That was one impressive State Park in a urban area. The views there are amazing as you get lower Manhattan up through Mid-town. The park itself was also very cool and must be a gem to have in North Jersey.

I notice you're in Pittsburgh. Next time you're near NYC, check out Hamilton Park in Weehauken. It's basically NYC's version of Pittsburgh's Mount Washington!

Very nice with some great building. NYC is so big with so much variety. Only thing I noticed is that it is not as uniform looking as Chicago wich has the two big black bookend towers in it's skyline.

Sweet pics ! Having grown up in W. New York & Union City I had some of the best views of Manhattan from our third story window which faced east towards the city hence my skyscraper addiction from a early age.

Weehauken is where we would go to see the 4th. of July fireworks every year and a great vantage point to view the city.
Thanks for posting these.

NYC is not an American city, it is an international city.

I hate when people say things like that. I think I understand why people say that but it’s a misunderstanding of why New York City is a very American city, maybe the most American city, or for that matter why London is a very English city, Paris is a very French city, etc.
