The site for the Archives building on Tallwood has had the top foot or so of soil removed.

Does it bother anyone else when they create a new streetname for no reason? Tallwood is basically two blocks long, with almost no buildings on it. Why not just call it Meadowlands?

Going east, Meadowlands also changes names twice more Might have been thought up when Nepean planned Centrepoint?

Nah, it was the people in charge of naming that street on the south side of LeBreton Flats. It goes from being Scott Street changing to Wellington somewhere over the O-Train and then to Albert where the old Wellington splits off finally changing to Slater at Empress.

Someone, somewhere, is really proud of themselves for that one.

True. Although it's nowhere near as bad as Wellington. I think I found 11 name changes on that one.

That's OT though.

My mother is an exec with algonquin and she had made reference to this project a few months back as she was informed of it by someone on the project... so im assuming yes it will go through, although perhaps the lrt delays have impacted the project since their intertwined. In the end the they need the new buildings and need the space that was given to them...

The Algonquin project does not depend on anything directly related to LRT. It does depend on a lot of 'last gasp' BRT-related building which will nominally incorporate provision for LRT as well, but nothing directly related to LRT. Where there could be delays is in securing funding for the BRT building project. Indirectly, LRT might have impacted it because someone decided that the coming of LRT would be a good excuse to use to bury transit, whereas the earlier plan had transit (BRT) on the surface. I say 'excuse' because LRT is even more amenable to being on the surface than is BRT so burying it is unnecessary.

They have already started building it; so, I'm guessing yes.

The (Old) Baseline Station has been razed, the ground levelled, and Algonquin's construction crew is driving a lot of piles for the new Building Sciences Building to sit on.

The City has been busy burying the new Storm Water Pipe from Navaho to Baseline Road.

No, not at the new ACCE, as far as I know. Why do you ask?

They've driven a lot of piles into the ground. They've got at least one floor of below surface concrete poured. It looks like some sections of the basement are one floor deep, and a smaller section is deeper. Utilities maybe?

Looks like they are working their way down in the new Transitway/LRT tunnel at Baseline. There are a couple of rows of driven I-piles about 35 metre apart and they have begun removing the soil between them. Wood walls are being extended down as digging progresses. Also angled tie-backs are being drilled to support the walls.

With a 35m wide trench, it looks as if the plan is indeed to have two bus-lanes, with shoulders, two rail lines and a 10m central platform (3.5+4+4+10+4+4+3.5 = 33m). Of course, I am told the tunnel design isn't finished yet, so in the mean-time, the trench is being dug and the storm sewer pipe is to be laid under the future tunnel.

Good question.

I'm hoping to go back to biking my youngest to her daycare. I'd prefer not to have to cross Baseline, but the pathway under has been blocked since September or so.

Correct, the Algonquin College building is now under construction, and digging for the Baseline transit tunnel has also commenced.

EDIT: here's a photo I took last Friday.

I hear from Councilor Chiarelli that his annual Open House is tonight at Ben Franklin Place, starting at 17:30. There are supposed to be the latest designs for Centrepointe and the Baseline Station.

(Although I can't confirm this because the Councilor's Web site seems to be having problems.)
