well geee...eeee...eeez i think u should know ur history when it comes to aviation especially with winnipegs airport being the first international airport in canada, now before u try to find some truth about that, i might have it confused with being western canadas first international airport. yeah i think by neglecting international from it ur making it sound pussy like

That's it ? That's very surprising because it seems low for a national capital but also because Edmonton has approximately thirty three percent more. If that's what it is then that's what it is but it just seems off somehow that Edmonton could have that much more than Ottawa.

Ottawa has always been roughly in the same league as Winnipeg and Halifax for passenger counts. Keep in mind that Edmonton is far more remote than Ottawa and so doesn't have as much competition from the car and train. Also, for international travel, it's not uncommon for people to make the drive to Montreal and fly out of there.

As for more names that are a mouthful - Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport - 16 syllables, incidentally the same as Winnipegs.

The WAA has stated that they have had to turn away additional proposed routes during the prime flight periods. Once the new termianl is up and running expect to see those numbers to climb.

Compared to the old terminal, it will be much larger... and customs won't be on the basement anymore either.

Oh, I've been asked that a couple times on why people were welcomed through the basement of the terminal.

The Winnipeg Airport terminal was built to handle 600,000 visitors a year... not it handles well over 3 million passengers.

"Hey lets use the basement" .. yeah thats a great idea.

I can't wait for that new building to open, so visitors won't think Winnipeg is a back water city. It will cast a new image... Winnipeg is a modern city with alot of great things going its way.

And again, this building is being designed with futur expansion in mind when the appropriate time comes; a rarity of proper planning which lacks in Winnipeg, but I'm happy about the foresight nonetheless.

To be honest, I always liked Winnipeg's airport. It's maybe a bit small, but it has a flair that other terminals of its era lack.

Are there any renderings of the future phases? I'm curious how the planned expansions would go.
