Largest global real estate developer Greenland Group (Canada) breaks ground on first Canadian project announcing new hotel for Downtown Toronto
TORONTO, May 8, 2015 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- International Shanghai-based megastructure developer Greenland Group announces ambitious plans to imprint Toronto's Theatre District with a marquee condo-hotel and Canada's first theatre museum.

Breaking ground May 8th, plans for the historic Westinghouse site include a 122-key luxury boutique hotel, 44 and 48-storey residential towers, and the highest heritage facade ever revitalized in Canada.

Marking skylines with ultra high-rise developments and communities that enhance quality of life; Greenland is building four of the top ten tallest buildings in the world, with 23 ultra high-rise buildings currently built or in construction.

^ I love the new marketing language developers are using. 44 and 48 story towers are hardly "ultra high-rise", especially with designs like that, which are pretty run of the mill for Toronto (or anywhere, for that matter). Now, 1 Bloor East or the Mirvish+Gehry towers, those are "ultra". These are just, well, condo towers.

These would almost be called 'Pharaonic' here. We constantly have to laugh at that French epithet 'pharaonique' everytime a random highrise is planned in our place, except in la Défense.

But yeah, by today's Toronto habits, it's definitely hardly average.

I hate to say this, but that's some Manhattanesque density right there.
