As I am returning to New York City next week (I will also spend a few days in Montréal), I thought it would be a good idea to post some of the many pics I took one year ago during my first trip to New York.

holy schnikes -- you definately got around for a first visit. great pics and superb pre-planning. and bonus points for picking top of the rock over esb, thats always a tough choice, but i think you picked the wise one.

Yeah, not too many tourists get out to Brighton Beach. That's a real dose of authentic NYC neighborhood life. Great pics.

Yeah, and actually, as I went to Top of the Rock last year, I decided to go to the Empire State Building this year (and also to the One World Center which wasn't opened yet last year).

My first trip was in 2011. Landed at night, straight to Brooklyn town house. No feelings even a little disappointed because back then I thought NY was Manhanttan and Brooklyn didn't feel like Manhattan.

The next morning I took the D line (or R) to the core, and 48 mins later when crossing Washington Bridge onground, I for the first time in real life saw Manhattan highrises. That was a feeling of complete of life, achievement, dream come true, life fulfillment, no regret, an amazing feeling never forget. The feeling continued when got off train at Broad&34st and strolled onground inside core of Manhattan.

Then, after working in there for a while and been there three times, I felt like a New Yorker only I was not a real New Yorker, longtime tourist at best. The feeling of wow-I-am-so-high was gone, only struggled for a living, everything was so expensive there and so tight. And people living in there, over half of them were cold, strictly minded their own business. and of course I strictly minded mine, hello, cruel world.
