How similar is southern Greenland (Qaqortok, etc) to Iceland? It looks a little pleasant, and as you mention, it is more temperate than places like Nuuk.

Qaqortok was very nice, and based on my trip, I would say is similar to the small towns in Iceland. I didn't get the feeling that I was in one of the remotest parts of the world. There were quite a few Danish people in the shops, tourist places, and the Hotel Qaqortok, so it had a little bit of a cosmopolitan feel.
Nanortalik was a different story - it felt like a depressed, isolated fishing village. I'm sure there are similar places in Iceland (and every country in the world), but I think Iceland has a generally higher standard of living, even in the small villages.
