Thank you all for viewing! I hope this thread wasn't too annoying or too long, and that you are able to put up with my average (below?) photography skills with my low-quality phone. I also hope you were able to see some places that you had never seen before - that would be quite a feat on this forum.

Long is never a bad thing with all of these unique places and great pictures. Love that picture of the Newfoundlander dog in front of Cabot Tower. I feel like that should be on a postage stamp in Newfoundland.

Nice pictures! No, this wasn't too long. SSP is way under quota as far as Greenland goes, so it's good that you posted all these towns!

How similar is southern Greenland (Qaqortok, etc) to Iceland? It looks a little pleasant, and as you mention, it is more temperate than places like Nuuk.

Qaqortok was very nice, and based on my trip, I would say is similar to the small towns in Iceland. I didn't get the feeling that I was in one of the remotest parts of the world. There were quite a few Danish people in the shops, tourist places, and the Hotel Qaqortok, so it had a little bit of a cosmopolitan feel.

Nanortalik was a different story - it felt like a depressed, isolated fishing village. I'm sure there are similar places in Iceland (and every country in the world), but I think Iceland has a generally higher standard of living, even in the small villages.

Thank you so much for this tour. I don't think I've ever seen tours of any small towns in Greenland or Iceland. Both of those countries are fascinating and the landscapes almost feel other-worldy at times.

How's the weather, there, too? Similar to Iceland? It certainly looks more cosmopolitan than one would expect of Greenland.

I did a thread of a small town in Iceland back in July.

It's a small sample size, but there was nearly a 10 degree Celsius difference (Greenland was colder).

Nope, didn't do that .

I did wonder if the word "cruise" would cause some people not to even look in this thread.

yes, i paused, but vikings roped me right in — and afterward made me realize there is really no other way to see something like this.

definately reassessing my cruise prejudice!
