Not sure where to post this, but what is your favorite building going up right now? Mine is Essex on the Park.....love the height for the location and the clean vertical lines it will have when completed.

I like the horizontal windows going in at that McHugh project on Cermak. Reminds me of great Art Moderne buildings like B&B in Cambridge or Drayton Tower in Savannah.

Gems 2

From the Vista webcam, it looks like GEMS 2 has a rig being built on site. Going to be even more activity in this small area very shortly.

Coyne College Parking Lot Would Become 24-Story Office Tower Under Proposal

Sterling Bay developers want to expand their growing West Loop footprint with a 24-story office building across from the former Coyne College.

Renderings obtained by DNAinfo depict an angular glass tower with 17 floors of offices, an amenity deck and terrace, four floors of parking and a two-story lobby with retail and a library.

^^^ Beat me to it. Not the worst parking podium I've seen, not the best. 5 blocks from Morgan station, 5 from Grand too, but not the friendliest of walks. So I see the need for a parking garage there, but maybe not that much. 2 floors of parking would look a lot better.
But it develops another full block parking lot and bookends Fulton Market to the NE.

Interesting quote. It's north of Lake but residential doesn't seem out of place here.

Come now everyone, the West Loop is a terrible place for office development and can never become an extension of downtown. Like Samintheloop said a year or two ago, McDonald's is just chasing trends and will move out in a few years...

Speaking of, what happened to Sam?

I'd like to see the podium a tad smaller, but overall I like it a lot. Looks like they've already lined up tenants too.
