So when I was back in Canada I spent most of the time in Nelson.

My parents and my sister's family now live there (and they are asking for my family to do the same when we return to Canada). Still haven't decided, but it is a beautiful town with a lot of character and a lot of vibe for a population of only 10,000.

Here are some of my pics!

First looking over the town from a local park.

And lots of wonderful heritage buildings ranging in age from around 130 to 100 years old.

Always fun to wonder around downtown

Nelson's big claim to fame is the 1987 Steve Martin comedy Roxanne.

This is the Fire Hall where much of the movie took place / was filmed.

The Pitchfork is a popular local restaurant. Lots of French Canadians working there. Had a nice dinner there.

Night time also remains active with lots of outdoor bars, restaurants, and craft breweries.

What is also great about Nelson is the climate. A strong four seasons.

Summer is hot and very similar to the Okanagan (though a little shorter). Fall is mild, as is spring, and winter is cold (but not frigid) and is great for skiing, but spring still arrives by the end of February or early March (so it doesn't linger too long).

Bye for now Nelson! Hope to see you next year.

It really is somewhere to check out if you ever make your way to BC.

Beautiful photos, Metro-One. Nelson, BC is a great town.

I love the movie Roxanne (which is, of course, a contemporary retelling of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac). Although the movie's plot takes place in the U.S., they kept the name of Nelson and showed off the character of the town to great effect.

Great shots! I love the Kootenays, and Nelson is the best and biggest example of what the Kootenays have to offer.

Turns out they didn't need the Nelson Promotional Cow.

Roxanne is a funny movie. Steve Martin is fantastic in it, and the character actors played it so well too.

Nice pics!

Great shots, Metro!

Despite growing up, and traveling around a fair bit of BC, I've never set foot in Nelson. It's getting embarrassing.

I hiked up to a peak in Seoul yesterday (my city these days), and was treated to an unbelievable view. It was too good not to share here. Enjoy.

Gorgeous shots, all!

*****

Went for a sunrise run this morning. Couldn't run the length of myself without taking a picture, though.

Two things:

i) Nelson looks super and
ii) Shaw Park has to be our finest ballpark (not that there's much competition).
