It's gonna be a losing season, but lots to look forward to.

Important draft coming up too. Jack Hughes looks like a game changer.

When predicting the upcoming season, it always makes assumptions based on the past season. There are always several teams that perform significantly better or worse than is expected.

Vegas traded Tatar, C prospect Nick Suzuki and a 2019 2nd round pick to MTL for Max Pacioretty, who’s a year away from UFA. I did not see this happening so late at night.

MTL finally got what they’ve should’ve been fixing a long time ago, getting an elite C prospect.

Good trade for Montreal, Tatar is a decent player and they got a good prospect. I've always found Paccioretty to be a bit over rated anyway.

Really? I'd say a consistent 35 goal scorer on a 4.5 mil contract would be hard to overrate.

^Agreed. Especially a 35 goal scorer on a team that plays a system so you can count the number of players that have readched 65 points in a season this decade on one hand. that might be an exaggeration on my part, but I think I'm pretty close on that. I only remembrer Pacoriettty at 65 a couple of times and Plekanec at 70 one season this decade.

Overrated in terms of a franchise player, he's pretty good, but he shouldn't be the #1 guy.

I like that Vegas has added some stability (Stastny and Pacorietty) for what is sure to be some regression down from the numbers that their forwards (Karlsson, Haula, etc.) put up last season.

Should balance out for them, at least in the short term.

Canucks are 2 and 0 on the season so far, after dismantling the Jets in a week-end series in Penticton.

I actually watched both games just to get a look at Pettersson. Pretty sure the competition was weaker than an SHL team, but it was nice to see Pettersson score some goals in a Canuck uniform. Shoots the puck like Boeser. Passes like a Sedin.

^It was the young stars tourney, which only had Winnipeg and Vancouver attending. Trust Canucks fans to bring up things that don't matter like the pre pre-season.

It is going to be such a long season for the Montreal Canadiens. I hope Bergevin is ready for the Price "last game I play" meltdown this season.

^ I thought the oilers and flames usually were part of this tournament?

I'm surprised Edmonton and Calgary didn't join, they usually take part. The the Flames and Oilers do the split squad game, only heard about the game here.

Definitely going to be a long season in Montreal...

They usually do, but Pettersson would've broken the spirit of all their prospects.

Yeah I'm getting cocky, but I'm tellin ya, this kid is going to rip up the league.

This prospect tourney will be the highlight of the Canucks season. They are most likely looking at a bottom-5 finish with arguably the worst defense in the league and an offense that is heavily reliant on youngsters and washed-up veterans.

That is a good return for Patches. Bergevin actually accomplished something positive for a change. Suzuki doesn't project as a franchise centre. Heck, he probably ends up playing wing and is likely no more than an average 1st liner. Good piece to have but the Habs have a long way years of bottom-ten finishes before they will ice a consistent playoff team.

It will no doubt be the highlight of the Canucks season. That's why I brought it up.

It's too bad Hughes wasn't playing in Vancouver this year. Even as a rookie I think he would have made our horrible defence a bit better, especially our power play. Hughes will have the option of dishing it off to 2 elite shooters. Pettersson's one timer is just as hard and accurate as Boeser's. Even at a slight 165 lbs (he's at 170 + now) his shot was clocked at 97.6 miles per hour.

The last goal in this highlight package really displays how skilled he is. He drags the puck by the defender then wires it top corner all in one motion. Interesting to hear a woman doing play by play as well.

Is Neal going to play with Monahan and Johnny this year? I could see him having one of his best seasons since Pittsburgh if he gets a shot at PP time.

Neal is a goal scorer and Johnny is a playmaker, so I would think so. They will try Lindholm on the top line as well.
