ILNY- Great view of Skyhouse . .
I hate to lose that view of the west facade . .
the purpley brick and all those 50 stories of individual windows . .
It's the best face of that building.
The East facade is blank.
the north & south facades are impossibly thin.

A Conversation With Moshe Shuster
Quote:
[...]

Q. Let’s talk about some of your current projects, starting with 281 Fifth Avenue, a condominium tower you’re developing with Lend Lease.

A. We are in demolition now. We start the foundation in February.

Most of the units will be between $2 million and $5 million; most will be one and two bedrooms. We’ll have retail on the first and second floors.

Q. How about the condo planned for 239 10th Avenue, called the Getty, which you’re developing with Michael Shvo?

A. We finished the foundation, and we start in January on the superstructure. And then we finish the building toward the end of the year. This will be superluxury.

Q. Is the commercial space in the building spoken for?

A. The two lower floors are in contract for a gallery, and the two floors above are in contract for an art foundation.

Q. Has the Charles condominium, on the Upper East Side, sold out?

A. I think there are four or five units available.

Q. Do you have anything else in the pipeline?

A. We’re looking all the time, but at the moment everything is so expensive.

This particular is very wrong, but you get the idea...

Looks like a little height bump compared to the previous permit.

Based on the DOB diagram, looks like this boring box will rise.

The "previous renderings" we're not real. They were hypothetical fantasy renderings some random firm that was in no way hired or involved in this project. Architecture firms make these "vision" renderings all the time — nothing about them is actually real unless that firm has a commission to design a building for the land owning client developer.

That said, I don't think this is just a boring box. The base is very interesting and with expected high quality materials will probably look fantastic.

Here's to hoping this design changes, but I can live with that one too.

The interior at the base looks insane!

we've known this will be a Vinoly box for awhile. Still, the height is welcomed.

Vinoly is the high end Gene Kaufman. Nothing about his work should be welcome in NY.

thanks for the thought, mistermetAJ . .
liked it so much, it gave me a few of my own . .
If 281 5th, is gonna be visually blocking any part, of our venerable ESB . .
from many of the inspiring South-Eastern vantage-points . .
. . then the new thing had better be damn worth it . .
and damn complementary to our sacred icon . .

The best views left, of the full ESB height . .
are to the building's SouthEast . . Refer to the honorable sightline area simply as . .
"the Wedge of Soul-Saving Empire Soaring Upliftment" . . Intentionally Corny . .
But please become aware of it . . Look North from the Flatiron . .

And if 281, . . is to be the proverbial "skinny, boring Vinoly box", . .
It had better be . . the most skinny, magnificently boring Vinoly box ever . .
in the whole frickin' universe ! . . or storm City Hall . .
Kaufman, aught to be officially outlawed, . .
from building any tower within a 10 block radius of ESB, Chrysler, or 70 Pine . .
and 15 blocks from ESB, in said wedge, to the SouthEast . .

Some precious things, like Grand Canyon, the Capitol, . .
and the Primo NYC deco towers must be protected . .
especially from the desecration of monstrous jackass parasites . .
I appreciate . . the Empire . . more and more everyday . .
Oh, to have the control of a Czar . .
