This just strikes me as something that would go up in Stone Oak.

Keeping my fingers crossed for River North though. . .

Is there some law in SA which prohibits highrises from being built downtown ?

*only half tongue-in-cheek*

With a name like "Bella Vista" it won't be downtown. Also, the fact that it is two mid-rise towers means that it won't be downtown. Downtown real estate prices mean that one one integrated 27-story tower would make sense, but two shorter ones....probably not.

(Developers tend to think (and are usually right) that people will buy "views" of rolling hills and trees without considering that the hills and trees will be subdivisions in a matter of years.)

What is weird is that the hotel is shorter than the condo tower. Seems like SA has always been the opposite.

^^^Yep. The suburban development staple of a stupid Italian name that's totally lame if you translate it to English is what first suggested Stone Oak to me, but I guess it could be going up in the LaCantera area as well.

Hey, as long as we aren't talking about downtown, which one is gonna have the more impressive "skyline" in 5 years, LaCantera or Stone Oak?

I think this is a La Joya development because Cabi has always been connected to that tract of land even before it was La Joya.

La Joya being adjacent to The Landmark development at 1604 and 10.

First, that was funny. Stupid Italian/Spanish names suggesting great views...

My parents live in "view of the north" which features streets "sea view" "bay view" "view of the world" and so on. they have a view of an apartment complex and air traffic.

Secondly, I think that Stone Oak is going to win the skyline fight. There doesn't seem to be much more "stretch room" there - meaning that it is a lot easier (and more attractive) to buy land way out I-10 with good access than it is around Stone Oak. Tesoro and the medical center annex there are good indicators. La Cantera would have to have some announcements soon to change my mind - as of now there is a Drury going up and not much else.

Yeah, I was considering "LaCantera" to be in that general 1604/10 area, including the Rim, Valero, and UTSA.

I think Stone Oak definitely has a head start on LaC in terms of skyline, but as you pointed out sakyle, LaC area is just now getting close to being built out, with LaJoya and the Shops phase III. The amount of vertical development could eventually end up being closer than it would seem at this point.

So if these two buildings were to go on Emporis, would they go under "Proposed" or "Approved"?

Not sure. I would add them, but there doesn't seem to be much solid info on them.

This was put out in June; SA is mentioned in the last paragraph.
Don't know any specifics though. I'll find out more.
Found alot of the same in;
Reuters
Hotel and Motel Management
Starwood
