The street level elevations have a sleek, "big city" feel to them; at least in the renders.

Interesting building, but I wonder what it would have been like with the straight tower redesinged a little not to look so late 50s - early 60s - ish.

What would it have been like the same size, only smooth and clad in glass like the neighbouring annex part, only in white nickel, and sheer, instead of an attempt at "International Style" (or something striving for it)?

The overall effect would be much sleeker and more dramatic, (imho), and I would disagree with anyone who says the taller tower would overshadow its angled green neighbour.

Wow looks friggin amazing! An extra 50-70 meters in height would have been nice... but sweet design none the less

The Alberni and West facades look very similar to Shaw Tower. Hopefully the green glass is high quality.

Overall I think it looks great.

A shame it isn't a bit taller even by 3 storeys but it'll be a great improvement to the area nonetheless and hey, it's not a condo!

I agree, at this height is doesn't add much to the skyline, but nevertheless is a great addition to the city.

I'm sure from the corner of Alberni and Thurlow it will seem plenty tall enough!

Taller please. Nice structures like this one should not be buried behind all the unimaginative extisting buildings.

That's pretty much all we say about new buildings in Vancouver these days.

Actually IMO many new proposals lately have vastly better architecture than what we have seem on average over the past decade or so, such as 1021 and the Burrard Gateway Towers.

I like the look and feel of this tower.

McCarthy's lease at 777 expires in 2015, so I'd say that's a safe bet for a completion time for this one.
The website already shows that the top four floors is leased out, for a total amount of just over 80,000 square feet. So presumably this is McCarthy's. Still a fairly good chunk already leased out, and its looking real good.

I first heard about this building during the recent Vancouver meet, and only know it as the "Bentall Stub". Though its an office tower, it didn't really excite me as much as the Telus building or the 1021 Hastings.

But after seeing these renderings....WOW!!! While its true that it would have been nice if it was taller, the sheer quality of this building and its impact in the immediate area is something to be quite excited about.

The height will be 91m, the first rendering is quite unrealistic in its vision of the building's height. Sure looks huge though.

Another angle of the render taken from the Changing City Blog (not sure where they got it).

I love what they have done with the north shore. It kinda reminds me of the Samsung ad from the Olympics.

Here's how tall the building is in relation to the neighbouring Carmana Plaza - http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?searchID=51924905

It's shorter.

Do I notice a colourful exterior lighting feature (based on the main image on the website)?

This thing is plugging along, can confirm existing tenants have received notice to vacate by Feb 2012.

Looks like we have a good idea of the start date of this one.

This project's status should probably be changed to "Approved".
