Spring has sprung, the grass has riz. Come see how great CHICAGO is!

My first trip to Chicago was a resounding success! The weather was perfect, the architecture tours were better than I had expected and the people could not have been more friendly...I can't wait to go back.

Following are some of my favorite shots. If you see a specific building you like, I may have more photos, just ask.

The view from the Sears (oops, Willis) Tower

Looking south on Michigan Ave (near Millennium Park)

Looking North

The same view on the Chicago Achitecture Foundation model

First National Bank of Chicago

Balconies at The Elysian

Another shot from the Sears (arrrgh...Willis...Willis...Willis) Tower

Aqua!!!

Although I was disappointed by how the building looked from a distance, close up, it was stunning!

Chicago Cultural Center (former library) Receptions and concerts held under the Tiffany dome must be an amazing experience!

Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park

Unfortunately, I have no good shots of the Gehry-designed structure

Carbide and Carbon Building (1926)

35 East Wacker (1927) (Don't even try to take photos inside)

River view from base of Trump Tower

The Bean at Millinnium Park

Metro Correctional Center

Lake Point Tower

Wrigley in foreground, Trump and Tribune towers in the background

More Beans please...

Crason, Pirie, Scott & Co.

???

Acid-trip view from the Sears (...sigh, Willis) Tower

Wrigley & Trump

Hancock Center

Library

'Rooftop' reading room

From you-know-where

The boxes were great!

Other than Aqua, The Rookery was the other building I was most looking forward to seeing. It was completed in 1888 with a lobby remodel done by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1905.

Unfortunately, we weren't allowed any higher in the building than the lobby.

Thompson Center

The building was closed...this is shot through the gates

Tribune Tower

At Navy Pier (the only disappointment...was not worth the walk)

2 Views from Navy Pier

Trump Tower base

The Rookery on the left, Chicago Board of Trade at the street's end

Lobby of Chicago Board of Trade. This photo does not do it justice!

Between Terminal 2 and 3 at O'Hare

Outside The Drake

This rabbit is next to the water tower at the base of the Handcock Tower

The hotel room view

The view wasted on the ice machine in the hotel

Marina City

UBS Tower

Outside the W

Trump Tower

Wrigley Building (one of my favorites)

The lobby of the Marquette Building (Tiffany glass tiles) There's a great exhibit of the building's history in the back lobby

In the ballroom of The Palmer House

Another shot of the model

Heading home

I took two historic walking tours sponsored by The Chicago Architecture Foundation and would highly recommend either one (or both).

I also took a river boat cruise and would recommend that as well. Although there are several tour companies, here's a link to the one I took:

Looks like you had a good time.

And congrats on being the first person to find something about the Elysian worth photographing. Let's hope Lagrange never renovates Marina City.

Anyway, nice pics. I really liked the close ups of the buildings, so much detail.

Excellent job. Very, very comprehensive. Your comments were also [unintentinally] funny.

Did you capture any new shots of the recently completed Legacy?

Thanks for the comments...it was worth every one one of hundreds of thousands of steps I took that weekend!

If this (center building) is Legacy, then I only have the one photo.

I went to Chicago in 1991 and the weather was absolutely gorgeous and the people very friendly. Nothing has changed in that respect but the city certainly has. Great photos.
