i love that western european skyscrapers are being designed more and more to invite people into the building rather than having harsh ground level bases. imo designing open lobby's which invite people is much better than tall and large podiums.
of course it depends on the city, but this skyscraper looks like it'll be a good addition to la defense.

The building curves makes it really hard to draw as a diagram for SSP. As such, I came to the conclusion it would be better to make a 3D skechup model first in order to get a 2D render out of it.
wait the height is now 971'? so its no longer a supertall?

Indeed it was initially planned as a supertall, but the designers decided to give her a haircut. The loss of the extra metallic 'mess' on top makes the building shorter and the crown less erratic.

ah oui...? The thing is it's actually been designed by someone from California, which doesn't make it look better to me (no offense to CA though). It's too massive and although its cladding looks good on the latest renderings, it's badly weird and kinda scary, or at least worrying. Because they may eventually build this thing. For real. You know ? and guess what, some people living around the spot it might be raised on are really scared indeed, of its shadow.

^ I'll second that, don't even know whether I'd rather see it canceled or built, it looks so odd.
Edit :
From the natural ground, 876' (267m) tall to the roof, 974' (297m) to the hair.
From la Défense's huge deck, 843' (257m) tall to the roof, 942' (287m) to the hair.
wanchun is the source.

Reason: adding height informations
That looks like a large animal being attacked by a swarm of flesh-eating, rectangular insects. It is slowing falling to the ground in pain. That's the first thing I thought about.
In spite of hostile appeals against it, the project is still alive, Unibail seems determined to make it real. It's currently showed in the CNIT building nearby the site on which it should sit, for trying to reassure folks living in the neighborhood. Here's the latest model which is exhibited there:
Well as far as I'm concerned, I must admit that I changed my mind. At first I was kinda but the more I look at it, the more I feel curious, I think we actually need to see this thing for real. It's still risky but risk is exciting, isn't it? Unibail says construction will start in the second half of 2012, they even claim the preliminary work should begin before the end of this year. Go ahead Unibail, let us see your freakin' thing at last.
