SSP Local Edmonton?

So seeing as the majority of threads left here are Edmonton based...should we just move to a SSP Local Edmonton as well? Perhaps leave an Alberta section as a catch all for the the remainder of threads and cities?

Meh, but it may be worth the try. C2E is a different entity and somewhat separate from the folks who frequent SSP.

I'd vote no. We seem to keep it to construction & construction related topics, I don't mind the few digressions we have on the thread an they don't totally derail it, and we all know where to go if we want to talk about Edmonton cupcakes.

Since Calgary got their local I've found the Alberta section much easier to deal with. I say keep it as is.

There's definitely not enough else going on here to merit an SSP Local format.

Why does Calgary have their own local?
Is it so they can better hide their failing commercial and residential real estate markets?

Yes I am bitter the flamers are in the playoffs.

Doesn't this question get brought up every month?

edit: I suppose the time has come too, perhaps we should just make the switch and get it over with!

There was recent talk from the SSP Local master to put a freeze on creating any more locals for now until local can be better defined.

I think he was referring to how much geographical area to encompass.

Well actually those sections did boost guest viewership and activity than there was before, despite their activity being slow. And recently I took over creating locals and ended up diverging from their version of locals.

No worries, I just found it ironic that Waterloo has it's own section for chatting about their proposed 21 m (6 floor) building "the42" whilst Edmonton is in the generic AB section.

Cheers

I say, with Calgary moving into their own subsection, that we just dominate the Alberta section with Edmonton specific threads.

I like it how it is too. The "OT" discussions on the main Edmonton construction thread dont bother me and are usually pretty minor. I say leave it be.

If we keep creating new threads at this rate, we will need an SSP Local...

One advantage is the space to have alot more sticky threads. There is a bit of clicking around though but the locals I created have all kind of navigational links to jump around within a local with one click.

DO IT!!!

Great city all the way around...You have my vote.
